Well, I am obviously not CCP lol, But I can provide some insight to some of these things.
1. Range, it is not just HMGs, it is everything, they removed the Sharpshooter skill, or more precisely what it did before. However, their range was most certainly one of the most cried about aspects around here. For a while there, everyone was saying how it was a CQC weapon and shouldn't outrange an AR. (Ofc, it only did when the HMG user had much better Sharpshooter, but that shows why they removed it.) Now that it doesn't outrange the AR anymore, everyone is crying the other way? Sheesh talk about hard to please.
2. Aiming. As has been confirmed a couple of times, in threads that are on the front page at this time of posting, especially one with the big blue DEV tag, that there as a bug with aiming and they are trying to figure it out. After reading the thread, and chiming in at the end, I agree that turn acceleration is broke, and feels wonky. Hopefully this gets fixed sooner rather than later, I agree.
3. The skills, well, ok I agree this is a tad odd, especially with Logis having no choice but to skill through proto basic frame to get a decent amount of equip slots. Was hard to drop that ~2m SP, definitely. |

I, for one, never loved the Sharpshooter mechanic, always felt a bit silly to me. I only heavily skilled into it to get the stupid range advantage on every weapon, so as not to be left behind the curve,
Falloff is still a concern, as there is literally none atm, but that has been addressed by the Weapons Master CCP dude (can't remember his name at this second). It is coming, and very soon. However, HMGs are and always were meant to be CQC/Point Defense weapons. The fact that Sharpshooter changed that shows exactly why it had to go.
I do realise that limits some of the playstyles that used to exist, but these voids are to be filled with other weapons, rather than a tacky skill-based range increasing mechanic. Yes, I realise we don't have them yet, but CCP have said all along that these changes are paving the way for all the new stuff, and that is definitely one of the reasons for the removal of the old Sharpshooter mechanic. |
