Subject: Maxed skill in AR + Duvole, Brech, Tactical (proto ver) + no mod for dmg
If CCP want short ranges it is done.
Tactical is fine (range/dmg) but it is tactical... You do good job here if you use it. Duvole can shot someone at root .. only if you very close to building/platform. It is hard to shoot someone acros the street. (most of fights here) and it is VERY hard hit someone from 0-10m. So It is like your magic ranges goes from 20 to 40. It is very low like for versalite weapon. Output dmg (ROF * dmg / magazine) is average. More dancing then effects. Breach is... fine. Output dmg is good you do job vell, but... you have no chance to kill someone at platform (20m+) so it is very close fight weapon.. very...
All is fine to this point. Grab your prefered weapon for distance. Remeber - with maxed skills
But you miss one thing. YOU REMOVED POSIBILITES TO CHANGE WEAPON DURRING FIGHT WITHOUT LOOSING EQ/DROPSUIT - so nomore tactical view on game.
So game will look like this: - stay in one place - shoot all clip and cover - repeat and you probably kill someone.
- dont flank - range - dont look at map from 3D view... dont go up/down (pointles from shooting - range) - just stay in one mob and shoot another mob. (I suggest grenades for everything)
Nice dynamic game (sarcasm) ;)
And... this is all. Welcome in 5km maps.

my heavy has been getting killed all day and night from ranges of 20m to 67m or more by Assault rifles of various breeds. do yourself a favor and be happy you're not using a HMG that couldn't shoot through a wet paper bag at 15m... (with level 5 skills) |

Problem for now is detection on short ranges. Even if you empty all clip in short clear position to the enemy - often I dont see any effect (elier shield flash) and if enemy get down, dont give you even assist ;) But it's probably a transient (I hope), due server fix.
If you have chance ... change HMG for adv/proto SMG ;) People for now are extremely close.

I'm starting to think the short range issue is the AR working as intended to give scouts a chance in CQC. |

It's not a bug Jack, and it's not hit detection... The HMG was nerfed... hard.
We've been asking why for 72 hours now. Still no answer.
HMG without sharpshooter in Chromosome was more efficient than this. Most of the guys I know are saying, fine, hit the damage, but why take away range?
I was enjoying Uprising at first, I still do, but that's probably because I'm running an assault/tactical AR fit now. I am niche player, no more.
But as you say, we've moved toward "blob and zerg" tactics. In Chromosome, the assault/ar blob and zerg tactics didn't work in corp matches, because niche weapons could keep them in check when used properly. Especially the HMG.
I don't get who is getting the ears of the developers and having them make decisions like this. Or if there is some formula for balance between the weapons that some hard-head in development is insisting the game stick to.
Either way, we took 1 step forward and 3 steps back with regard to weapon balance in the game. |

You always was camper.... Time to try to learn something new as playstyle xD
p.s. and you totally wrong about game, its just PERFECT if you not only camper. |

If you call me camper for flanking and trying go around enemy forces solo and attack from behind .. .no prob. As heavy no point for me shoot and take cover- usualy no time for regen and too low speed for taking cover. You must kill at first 'meeting'.
Now game seams like this. - mob shoot at mob in one place.... no one attack and break possition, due short ranged weapons anywhere. - no one attack.. because 5-6 ppl shoot at you at same time... just tos grenade and stay.
If CCP want that type of game no prob again. I just write feedback. |

Camper its not always negative context.
But, of course, anyone can play as he want. To be fair, yes, you played alone a lot, i agree with your point of view about playing alone and flanking.
But, in my opinion, you did it too often, in circumstances when it was not necessary.
So it just my opinion, true or not it is just point of view. |
