Remember Mass Effect 1? Landing on a planet and blowing up a Cerberus base was pretty fun. Hopefully we can do something similar here in Dust.
In EvE we have various pirate corporations, Empires and Industrial conglomerates. What I would like to see added after the Rogue Drone swarms are various pirate bases, factories, depots and research labs. Your squad would basically take a mission from an NPC corp and assault the base. There should be different objectives depending on the corporation and the specific mission. Maybe CONCORD sends your squad to blow up a Serpentis drug lab RoboCop style. Maybe Creodrone sends you to steal important research and a prototype weapon from an Ishukone lab. Maybe the Archangels want you to assassinate the head of a mining corporation that doesn't want to pay their month's protection isk. They could add tiers to the level of missions that increase the level of difficulty, number of enemies and the potential rewards. The higher tier missions might even drop rare BPCs, who knows? The possibilities are endless. |

Implants and Boosters used for something other than SP gain.
Blue Pill, Exile, X-instinct, Crash...my pupils dilate just thinking about all of them... |

Another way to tie Dust into Eve is to use the already existing Incursion mechanic.
While Capsuleers fight the Sansha fleets in space above, Dust mercs could fight Sansha's soldiers on the planets below. These would probably be multi-corp battles, think 64 proto-geared people and tanks fighting hundreds of husk/borg NPCs of ungodly proportions. |

Instead, I'd like to see PvEvP. Two teams competing to accomplish something, and the environment/drones doings its best to make sure your life is hell while you try it.
That way it's another game mode, and not a potential to lose the entire competitive component to carebearing.
That's how Incursions in EvE currently function. The competitive aspect encourages players to min/max their gear, skills and group makeup to be the most efficient possible. In EvE, fleets sometimes are forced to contest sites in order to "win". As you'd imagine. the sloppy fleets usually lose with little or nothing to show for their effort.
At the moment there is nothing competitive about Dust so long as folks in prototype gear can continue to fight against militia. Having a smaller PvE aspect in Dust provides more content, something that a game with such a small player base probably could use more of, if for no other reason than to attract and hopefully retain, more players. PvE needs to be balanced so that risk and reward are related. Isk/SP would need to be balanced so that the option to PvE is there, but the greater rewards are found in PvP. |
