Well now that the day has passed, and the criticisms have come pouring out (I for one enjoy the new build, for the most part), I find it strange now that getting into a basic logi suit requires you to spec past basic proto suits.
Seems with the enormous requirement to get into a basic suit, the role that I think was a great way to introduce yourself to the game is now highly specialized. Dust is pretty much the first FPS I've gotten into, and If I had to run what is basically an assault suit for a month instead of being able to run logistics, I probably would've stopped playing.
Logistics really let me contribute to my team while while minimizing my lack of FPS skills, all the while allowing me to slowly build those skills up so that I can run assault and at least get a decent KDR.
Why not something like Medium Suit Lvl 3 to access logistics? And provide a bti of a nerf in slots so that people don't use them instead of Assault specialization. I don't see any reason that specializing into logistics should have the same requirements as specializing into a dedicated damage dealer (Assault).

Wait, I've skilled into a Minmitar M1 logi, and I don't have access to any proto suits. Mind you it's very confusing going through what the skill unlocked and what it didn't. I stumbled on a medium frame I didn't know I had unlocked in that mess of a list. |

Why doesn't anyone consider the Militia Logistics as a starter suit?
It is Cheap! Has two equipment slots (like the silly one that had 3/2/3 slots). Now consider that most players don't even know how to get revived there is almost no need to revive anybody.
If you run in a Squad then two slots with Injector and Repair Tool are fine as long as the Squad knows they have to provide their own Hives, quite a lot of them for that matter. |

Because there is no militia log suit. In order to take on the logistics role, you have to spend more SP than everyone else just to unlock a suit that fulfills the role. They least we could've gotten was a dual equipment slot dropsuit in the medium category that resembles to old militia logi. |

The Skinweave Logi suit is still a Logi suit.
If you didn't get one in closed beta, or the event at the beginning of open beta, then there is no Militia Logi option.
It would be great if there was one, but there isn't.
Just like there's no Militia Assault except the Starter Fits, and the Dragonfly is the only Scout suit with no skill requirements. Heavies get nothing but basic suits. |

It is the absolute worst for Logistics suits. If I want to be a Sentinel, there is a Heavy Frame. Same if I want to do Scout or Assault; there are Medium Frames or Light Frames. But there is no Frame that has two equipment slots. It is impossible to do actual support with a single equipment slot because it means you ignore something so massively. You are not a Support until you spend 6 weeks training. Before than, you are just an 'Assault' player.
Would be like having to train Heavy Suit before you can go Scout...
Edit: I just saw the Frame with two slots, so I guess it is something but still...
Be well. |

There is a "Fossil Militia Logistics" suit, though it seems to be real-money only. 2 slots only as well. |

They have Militia Logi suits in the form of the Fossil and the Skinweave.
They need a Militia Logi suit (for each race) in the Market and purchaseable for ISK. Same should really go for the Scout (since there's the Dragonfly - not Militia, but a zero-skills Scout suit) and Sentinel (no precedent, but more because Heavies don't get the appreciation they deserve). |

There are two purchasable options at the moment, both take real money.
Neo Logistics (m) & Fossil.
Neo is the logistics without skill suit, and it's the equivalent a std Minmatar, that's a per suit cost. Fossil is a militia BPO, and will cost the player 12800 AURUM, or... $6.50 if 40k Aurum is $20. That seems steep to try out a role.
I don't necessarily mind that Logi requires specialization or is different from Medium, but it makes the other roles look stupid - as they effectively get identical suit stats to the medium/large/small frames. This makes -their- roles less special and less worth actually skilling into. Ignore the passives, the actual specialization suits need to be different not just for parity, but for specialization to make sense at all. |

You should have access to the basic proto Medium frame.
Which still seems ridiculous, I've got a proto Gallente fit now that I'm probably not going to use that often, all to get access to a basic, relatively weak logistics suit. |

Yes I completely Agree.
Every other class can skimp on getting it to 5 because it already unlocks their suit for them, just not the racial bonus, which is a load of crap!!!
CCP pretty much just lets every other class get easy access suits and screws logibros out.
For instance on my alt that is a minmitar scout, i only got minmitar light frame to lvl 3, Why go any further? For a slight increase in damage with nova knives? Pathetic. Not worth the waste. I've also seen too many assault guys just rocking the basic frame proto, because it is exactly the same thing.
This build really screwed over the logibros except for the inclusion of the Core Focused Repair Tool. Everything else is screwed up majorly.
- Can't see if any of my team mates are downed - Mass Driver Blast radius nerfed massively (not against it, just against that big of a nerf) -And the fact that the mass driver nerf isnt even in the patch notes, Scumbags!!!!! - Way too much SP to get into a logi suit |

I was obsessing over this at work today and thought that really, the biggest issue here is that they gave us an enormous SP sink, without any short term benefits to really help us. Instead of steadily, and organically finding and improving our playstyle, they've made it so we have to hardcore grind for a month(ish) to even get to basic logistics suits.
How much better would it be if we could use those 1.8mil SP to actually, you know, skill up?
Here's what I was thinking, rework the requirements to get into basic logi suits, and add a dedicated Logistics skill tree.
Instead of Dropsuit Command Lvl 1 --->Racial Medium Lvl 5--->Racial Logi
something more like
Dropsuit Command Lvl 3 --->Logistics Lvl 1--->Racial Medium Lvl 1--->Racial Logi
After accessing Dropsuit Command 3, a new skill tree opens up that not only let's us spec into logi suits, along with the racial medium of your choice, but also adds some logistics speciality skills as well. Something like the weapon proficencies, but for equipment. As well as offering some incentives to level up past level 1. Somethinng like this:
Logistics Skill - Ability to use specialized logistics dropsuits as well as increased equipment performance. 2% bonus to Dropsuit PG/CPU per level.
At Level 3, equipment specialization opens up, allowing for increased performance of battlefield equipment. For example:
Medic - 3% increase in repair tool repair rate on dropsuits per level. Prerequisites Remote Repair Systems Lvl 5, Dropsuit Command Lvl 3, Logistics Lvl 3.
Or
Resupply - 5% increase in nanohive nanite clusters per level. Prereuisites Nanocircuitry Lvl 5, Dropsuit Command Lvl 3, Logistics Lvl 3.
And so on and so forth.
These are only examples, but when they announced more racial suits and specializations, it was something like this that I was really hoping for. Not just for logis, but for all classes/roles, I think it's pretty lame that instead of giving us achievable, short term rewards and goals, they dropped massive SP requirements just to get into basic stuff.
I don't shutter at the idea of having to earn 1.8mil to become a better logi, but I shutter for new players who are going to hop in and see that they'll have to spend a solid month or so just to earn the SP try new things, when an expanded skill system would allow for more experimentation as well as specialization.
