In Uprising, has the draw distance for players being displayed been lowered?
I was testing out sniping on Manus Peak today, and previously, I could see enemy players at the ridge over by the southern MCC, from behind the northern home base (and vice versa). Stuff in the 550 to 900 meter range After a bit, due to a lack of targets, I began moving up the map. Around the point of moving past A and very nearly up to B, a bunch of their snipers suddenly appeared on the ridgeline. Not as in they started sniping, but they had been and I just couldn't see them until I'd crossed half the map.
What's really strange is, from the full map distance, while I couldn't see players, enemy RDVs and vehicles were perfectly visible.
Bug? Change? I don't mind losing sharpshooter, but I need to be able to SEE my targets, even if I can't hit them yet. |

Consider the following pieces of information.
Increased detail in the switch from 720 to 1080 as well as the change from UnReal 3.5 to UnReal 4 requires more memory and GPU load.
Many QQ posts were about Red Line Snipers. Well, that won't work if you cannot see 500 meters will it?
The many, many posts about the bowl shape of almost every map (okay, every map essentially) and now Manus Has No Peak.
I would suspect purposeful changes. |

That still leaves the RDVs and vehicles at long distance unexplained. Hell wouldn't they take more resources than players to display?
And redline was solved when SS was removed, sniper range shrank from 800 back to 600. See but can't shoot is fine and acceptable, can't see isn't. |

I've noticed this as well. It seems that the draw distance for most objects has been reduced.
Case in point, I was trying to identify the location of a sniper using a sniper rifle's scope. My teammate started running towards the sniper's location and disappeared from my screen while in route. When my teammate killed the enemy sniper, I was looking right at their location, but couldn't see either of them.
Also, Schrodinger's cat is alive and well in Uprising. Those vehicles and installations at the edge of the map would disappear when I looked away, but would reappear a second after I looked back at them. |
