They have a very different idea of what an fps is than the general community who is testing this game. They are suffering from creators bias, they implement something and are too blind to see its faults.
They should have kept this game in Beta, and truly involve the community in a more intertwined fashion.
An example, the TAC AR. They let it stay dead for a whole build, then over buffed it. Why didnGÇÖt they just tweak the values. I imagine you just change the values in the system, and hotfix it. They wait a whole build to do this. They should ask the community for a vote on the issue. Work closer with the CPMGÇÖs who will truly represent the community. Not those just pushing their views.
CCP current agenda is like this
Month 1
*Tac AR Is broken
*Everyone QQGÇÖs and complains
*Silence
Month 5
*Tac AR is OP
*Everyone QQGÇÖs and complains
It would have been simpler and more effective to keep progress in small steps.
Week 1
*Increase Tactical AR damage.
*Hotpatch&Release
*Test for 1 week/ receive feedback
Week 2
*Tweak/Hotpatch &Release
*Test again for 1 week/ receive feedback
*Tweak
Rinse, wash and repeat till balance is achieved.
They should have weekly testing on major complaints. When the sniper ARGÇÖs were rampant, just tweak the range one week. Let it run for another week and collect information. Recalibrate and release. Small incrementGÇÖs of change will lead to balance. When you are aiming to hit the nail on the head, you just adjust your aim slightly not swing it completely left or right.
They could have balance the Laser Rifle like this, the hmg, missle turrets, dropships insta popping.
Most of the balance issues in game could have been helped from the community involvement and more developer interaction. This internal style of testing is not working for the development team. Involve the players who will be playing this game! They are the ones will keep it alive.
CCP is marching to the beat of their own drum. They keep reinventing the game. They need to tune and refine it to perfection. Polish the rock, donGÇÖt find a new looking rock.
