Can we have a discussion on increasing the SP cap?
I understand the game is supposed to take years to build your character up. So I am not talking about raising anything in the current system save the max you can earn per match after you cap. Currently it is 1K SPs and 1500 with booster.
I think we should increase that to 3k max per match and 4500 w/ booster after you cap. This way you preserve the stunting of avid players from becoming too powerful too fast, and you also lessen the grind a bit. It is too artificial to keep it so low when you've raised the bar so much higher to accomplish the leveling up of skills. |

Honestly, because of all the SP sinks we have to get through to spec into decent fittings I think the current system is woefully ineffective. I think the cap should be done away with altogether, but the end rewards cut in half. This way we can still get the SP we need all through the week. Sure, those who are really dedicated to the game will get more, but with how much everything costs they won't be rocketing ahead. |

I've been here since closed beta. I understand when caps are reset. I am talking about changing the current system only in the way i suggested. Feel free to reread ;)
TL;DR
Things I am not saying: - change the cap - change the schedule
The thing I am saying: - change the post capped maximum per match to 3K/4.5k w/booster up from 1k/1.5k w/ booster. |

I doubt there would be anything short of an uproar if I suggested doing away with the cap altogether. I am trying to find a compromise. At the end of the day- if there is inflation on the SP cost, their should be a bump in earning as well.

Well, if it was JUST doing away with the cap then yes, I can definitely see an uproar. That's why I also suggested that the SP rewards also be cut in half along with it. That way, those who play casually will still get... about the same SP for the whole week that they would if they tried to keep up with the 'hardcores'. Yes, this will weigh a bit heavier towards the 'hardcores' but they complain enough about the current SP mechanic as is, this would probably be better accepted by them. |

Actually with the SP sink that they have created in the suits (takes 5 mill to spec into proto suits now instead of 2.5 mill) they should definitely at minimum double the rewards and cap of the SP per week. Right now with the currect SP sink we have it would take a new player 14 weeks if they saved all of their SP and capped every week just to get into proto suits. That is not including all the core skills and weapons skills and everything else needed. If you want a game that has constant progression then this game will not give it to you with the current lvls of the SP sink. |

Agreed. There needs to be a reward vs risk balance because right now it is off kilter. |

Well, if you are any good whatsoever at this game, you hit the cap pretty quickly. I hit it by day 2 typically. I bet some people hit it in a matter of hours.

Did you all just forget that they spent most of Fanfest detailing how they're going to be moving towards adding a point to Dust, and that the first step isn't even implemented yet. Factional Warfare is just the start, and it's a natural progression to make the higher stakes/less frequent fights give out more rewards.
I don't think many of us have the time or inclination to grind out endless, pointless, instant battles for a year, but bumping up the SP flow isn't the solution. The solution is raising the stakes and giving people rare and juicy pinatas to swing for instead of a constant mind-numbing grind towards nothing in particular. Practice, get up to speed on the big changes this build, pick a class carefully, and be patient. Same as always. |

Logistics. Even assault isn't a sustainable path.
In order to fly a dropship consistently you are forced to find a corporation that will cover your losses.
It is in no way a sustainable path, and is far worse than an uphill climb for aspiring pilots.

Okay, let me tl;dr that for you: Do you really think a year from now long term players are still going to be running an endless string of instant battles two days a week to grind toward a meaningless, imaginary skill finish line?
Let me also answer that for you: No. CCP will use the same template for Dust they used for Eve: Higher stakes, higher rewards. As of next week the first step on the ladder will be added. From there, things will escalate. |

New people won't bother playing once they realise it will take 6 to 7 months dedication of capping every week to build a base character with core skills, before specialisation. These people won't be there in a year to play different parts of the ladder |
