I can't for the life of me understand the logic behind this new flipmobile. It is such an unstable vehicle now. Every uneven surface leads to a barrel roll. Is it just me? Should I be driving the speed limit?

You got it at the end. Unlike other games, you don't hold R2 all the way to go your safe driving speed. It's more designed around Hold R2 all the way if you are really in a hurry, but apply reasonable pressure for everything else.

Go in your car and put the pedal to the metal and see how long you last before you flip over.

im not the best driver in DUST.

the best way for me to desrcibe my pre/post Uprising LAV experience:

Pre Uprising - it felt like i was driving in a floaty mud.
i felt like i was barely held to the ground, and not much control.

Post Uprising- all grip, no mass.
i felt like the vehicle held on to the ground in terms of maneuving.
However, any deviation from horizontal ( or a slight breeze) and im doing Cartwheels, like a kite with no tail.

ive seen more overturned LAVs in the past 12 hours than i have in the past 6 months.

Dude, I really don't think they even play their game outside of their own private servers, where they have god mode enabled. They should reallyplay in the regular servers, and see why we *****.

When I first started Dust, the LAVs would spin like a top if you were giving it any turn and went off the slightest jump. So, I learned to always travel on the road. Honestly, it's faster than you think it is, and it solves all sorts of problems.

Or they could increase gravity a bit and solve many other problems (like the floaty jumping, moving, driving, and flying).

LAVs were nerfed to mobile coffins, people didn't bother to spec into them and treated them as such. Now that they're actually good, and can be recalled players take better care of them. Some even start thinking "hmmm, what if I speced into this?" and it worked. Been seeing a lot of LAVs lateley, mostly standards and logi, not too many scouts though. Oh and on top of that, people QQed about tanks so much that they got nerfed and prototypes have been reduced to redline sniping. LAVs are connected to HAV in their skill tree and most of them are using LAVs to run people over out of sheer vengeance. So if you see a convoy of murder taxis on the field, blame all the people that QQed about HAV in the first place.
