This thread is to discuss the issues with KB/M setup since Uprising.
The issue itself seems to be a combination of an inconsistent aim speed between the X and Y axis on the mouse and a hidden acceleration, deceleration of the mouse while aiming down the sights or when someone walks in front of you.
There also seems to be an issues with the mouse decelerating when you hold the fire button as if it is given friction and as soon as you let go of the fire button to re-aim it goes back into accelerated aiming.
All this combined provides an aiming experience i have never come across before.
Ingame sensetivity changes to the Mouse & aim smoothing can help a little but they are just a band-aid on a fatal wound. And yes Mouse users can still do 180 on a dime if they crank up the mouse DPI.
Having said that and having been fidling with my mouse all night, i came to the conclusion that...
...if you have a dual Axis Gaming mouse i could turn the oval aiming we have now back into a round one but the accel/deccel is still there. ...If you have a Eagle Eye converter that converts your mouse input to a True DS3 input, it actually works allot better then using the native Mouse support.
So if i use a third party converter that makes my mouse a DS3 with all the deadzones and controlled turning speeds conform to a real controller and it works better, then something is way off with the native mouse driver in uprising.
Any devs can take a look at it ?
I will be fiddling with the controlls all day and see what i can come up with, but as it stands the native controlls are completely unplayable from a KB/M point of view.
If i missed anything, pls comment, if you think everything is fine, don't post...

Not working. Biggest let down from any game I have ever gotten during 25 years of games. I bought a ps3 for this after playing chromosome with kbm - all for nothing, it seems.
I'm frankly so pissed I need to reflect why the game got this much under my skin with shattered promises. Counting to ten... |

ZiwZih posted in another thread that ccp has confirmed that KB/M is broken atm, hopefully this is getting fixed sooner rather then later. |

Hopefully it gets adressed soon. I am still trying to figure out why the DS3 is less controllable aswell though. |

I am only afraid the fix will not arrive by 14th.
They stated the fix couldn't be applied on yesterday's release even if they knew (too late) of the issue as 'it was already sent' (the build, to Sony) and they could only try to tweak it a bit.
Hate this -- the new build is here and I have no lust to play, at all. Sad. |

You are not alone. There is two of us here on one PS3 bought just for DUST. First days of new build and we are spending our free time browsing forums, PS3 is off.

I'm curious did you use the Eagle Eye converter in chromosone and if so did it work better than native? |

Know how you feel. Was all pumped up for the new patch and PC. Now I might just skip the cap this week and see if they fix the issue on release.
So far the only KBM users I know who say its fine had to adjust the dpi on their mice. Unfortunately I no longer have one with a dpi switch.
Maybe this PSN outage will give them a chance to submit the fix? |

I did try it in chromosone and it was almost identical to the native mouse, but selecting your equipment was an effort of epic proportions as the analog stick conversion could only go 90 degrees in the selection menu.
So after getting killed too many times trying to get my equipment out i shelved it and went back to native mouse.
The pro's about it where pretty much that you could configure your controls as you liked em, vs X for grenades, i could lob em with my thumb trough ALT and leave my movement fingers on Wasd. |

Yea, this is frustrating, but not nearly as terrible as 2 builds back. I actually stopped playing the closed beta for most of that build because the X and Y had completely different sensitivities, so when a target ran up a hill it was IMPOSSIBLE to track him.
I played a lot of Planetside 2 during that build....
Anyway, this one isn't nearly as bad, but it is certainly not perfect. They really need to not "fix" was isn't broken. |

Girl, you didn't buy the special "ps3 with usb port" edition console?
Wait a minute, all PS3s have usb ports and basically everyone with a computer has a mouse and keyboard? Your fuckin' up pretty bad if you think m/kb is easy mode and you're not taking the 8 seconds it takes to unplug the stuff from your PC and plug it into your PS3. |

My laptop keyboard can unplug? And I can use the built-in trackpad on it as a mouse for my PS3? Please explain how that works?
Also, I have an old, OLD desktop PC sitting behind me with PS/2 mouse and keyboard. They don't plug into USB slots. Sorry to disappoint with more than one reason why you're wrong. Need another? My PS3 has an internet browser.
The correct answer would be that they've screwed both control schemes in Uprising, but they screwed KB/M more. If the controls were working properly for all input options, it would still be possible to have a fair and balanced game as long as they keep the turn speed cap (and make sure it works this time) |

I'm sorry to hear that man. And I guess the 20 or so dollars you wouldn't otherwise have to drop to be in what some people consider "GOD MODE OF FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS!!!!" is just too much then. Right now I'm using a cheap Logitech mouse and a Dell keyboard that was just laying around, and up until this release it was working just fine.
But you're missing my point that all PS3s have usb ports. It's not some special, crazy expensive rig to utilize a m/kb. And you have to be in a minority of people who don't have a usb mouse laying around. Same with a keyboard. Beyond that, you spend less than half of what a DS3 costs for a decent mouse and you're in the game just like anyone else.
Hell, look at the fighting game community, people drop 100-200 bucks on arcade sticks just for one or two games. No one over there bitches about how OP sticks are, even though they are the exact equivalent of what a m/kb is for FPS. |

EDIT: rage quit over, I'm back. Its cool and <3 when fixed
Play Journey it is transcendent...and might make up for your purchase.
But yeah i feel your pain i bought a PS3 for the Last Guardian....luckily Red Dead, Skyrim, Max Payne 3 and Journey made up for that loss.

I can handle the speed...but the horrible aiming now is what gets me. Yeah if i was using a DS3 for this game i would have either quit after a week like i did with BF3 on console or never played it in the first place.
Anyone else get the feeling you can aim at stuff pretty easy but when an enemy gets in the sights it gets all screwy like the game is intentionally trying to make you miss the target? I really got that feeling last night when i was played...and I have auto-aim off. |

Sit her down @ at PC with HL2, Crysis, etc... with M/KB: powned by even noob PC players. Repeat process, give her DS3: still powned.
Sadly bring my KB/M over to Dust= unusable & barley remapable not to mention it has to be on a list of "known working"? From a PC developer no less?

Tested issue: GÇó sweep mouse fast, turns a little GÇó sweep slowly back, turns 4 times more GÇó do same with very low dpi mouse but high sensitivity - removes some of the disparacy
Still not even close to enjoyable on mouse.
Keep trying!
