I think you can only really claim 1 million SP on the insurance before the liability switches to the person who, one day after the release of the biggest set of changes Dust has ever experienced, decided to pour a couple of months of SP into a weapon before they'd even tried it. This. Treat a gun like a new car. Take the badboy for a few trips around the block b4 you dump your time into it. (also my direct hitting MD still works fine splash damage is for people who cant aim)
So your response to analysis on the nerf of a weapon is essentially "L2P"?
There were several issues listed in the OP with descriptions yet your final line in response to this thread is implying that anyone who wants splash from an area denial AoE weapon just needs more skill? Not every gun is supposed to be run and gun, direct fire or work at the same range. Diversity in weapon types (as well as other gear in the game) improves the game while homogeneity diminishes it, the AR is a good weapon, so is the sniper rifle and the shotty but none of them should be the only type of gun in the game.
It's one thing to say try it out when the weapon is new or there are documented changes made to it. But it's another to say it about a weapon with the same name, same image, same description in the same game without specific documentation in the patch notes. The idea that someone should just assume there are stealth nerfs is beyond silly, because stealth changes are simply bad practice. "Adapt or Die" is just fine, but having undocumented changes is like having false UI feedback, it damages fundamental aspects of the game. No one should have to check the stats of their gear every time they log in (or even every time there's a hotfix/patch) just to be sure it wasn't altered. That's what patch notes are for, anything else is rather misleading.

In this section I will post only the changed stats of the weapons which are area of effect and damage. Please note that I am not aware if the page rearranges text if viewed on devices such as tablets of phones so if it does the following pseudo table will not view correctly.
ODD = Old direct damage NDD = New direct damage
OSD = Old Splash damage NSD = New Splash damage
OSR = Old Splash radius NSR = New Splash Radius
STATS--MASSDRVR--"TSUNAMI"--BREACH---EXO-5---"CYCONE"---EC-3---EK-A2---FReeDOM---BOUNDLESS--CORE
ODD-------- 225 ------------ 247.5 -------- 315 -------- 247.5 ------ 270 ------- 148.5 ---- 346.5 ------ 270 -------- 162 -------- 378 NDD-------- 242 ------------ 242.0 -------- 338 --------- 254 -------- 254 ------- 152.5 ----- 355 -------- 266 -------- 159 -------- 372
OSD-------- 115 ------------ 126.0 -------- 80.5 ------- 126.5 ------ 138 --------- 75 ------ 88.6 ------- 138.0 ------- 82.8 ------- 96.6 NSD-------- 116 ------------ 116.0 -------- 81.0 ------- 121.8 ----- 121.8 ------- 73.1 ----- 85.3 ------- 127.6 ------- 76.6 ------- 89.3
OSR--------- 4 --------------- 4.4 ---------- 3.0 ---------- 4.4 --------- 4.8 --------- 6.6 ------ 3.3 --------- 4.8 ---------- 7.2 --------- 3.6 NSR--------- 3 --------------- 3.0 ---------- 2.2 ---------- 3.1 --------- 3.1 --------- 4.7 ------ 2.4 --------- 3.3 ----------- 5 ----------- 2.5
As we can see by the information above, the nerf of up to 39% splash radius of some of these, the reduction to splash damage of all but the original MASS DRIVER, the shield buff to most dropsiuts and the reduced efficiency this weapon has against shields has made it obsolete for the battlefield. Just a bit more info to look at.
