The assault class has de-valued in range, accuracy and damage. My first goal was to increase my weapon power and accuracy with the new reset. I spent over 4 mill. in sp point to upgrade the characteristics. After doing so i spent the rest on my dropsuits. When in match the very first thing i noticed was the fact that there was no range to any of the assault rifles. These are rifles. Not sub machine guns or shotguns. Why is the accuracy quoted at the level it is if its only good within 30-50 meters. My fellow assault corp members have decieded that the update needs work and will not return until the issue has been resolved, nor will I recomend this game to an average shooter gamer. Most COD fans that have tried to transition over find the game not geared to a run and gun and cover style. more of jeep, sniper, grenade launcher styled game. Delete my post if you want but the truth is your update was very flawed. |

Since practically everyone is on board with the range being too short, I predict that CCP will eventually boost the range of all weapons. I'm personally not too worried about it since we have a consensus here (and how often does that happen?!?). |

Matakage you definitly have a good point on the consensus line, but the question is, how long will they make people wait for a range update. I've also found the SP price increase left me weaker then I was. The reset was supposed to be a good thing, but when they increased prices they dropped my character to a lower lvl since I wasn't able to afford most of the extra skills i was using. CCP new they would increase SP skill prices so a warning on that would have been nice as well. They really screwed a lot of us over with this update. I was really excited, now it's more of a "Do I really want to play this game?". I can't really play unless I want to crush my K/D or camp in a hole for matches upon matches. Told my corp to let me know if they fix it, otherwise I'll find another game to keep my interest. |

Man, I would love it if this were actually true and people were inspired to pick up something other than the AR.

Inspired to pick something other then an AR? If I like to use rifles why is that a problem? Should the AR class be punished because everyone likes to use it. Its a shooter game i like to run and gun. I was also skilled into swarm launchers and pistols before the update. I dont know what " a subtle troll attempt" is but sounds insulting.
Also Gemini they are rifles. Every single weapon under Assault rifle class is labeled as a rifle. They are not presented as blasters.
And yes the game has lost its fun to me. Thats great if your happy with your character and the update but i for one had a better time with the last version. there were flaws in that one too but they were fixing those week by week. It just feels like a completely different game, one that i do not find fun. |

They're Blaster Rifles.
They're rifles, which implies a certain measure of range, but they're also Blasters, which have the implication of a shorter range than usual. Shotguns are also a Blaster weapon, and they suffer from the usual Blaster range limitation. Assault Rifles are a much longer-range Blaster weapon, but could still do with a SMALL increase in range (both optimal and maximum).
The HMG, on the other hand, is a HEAVY MACHINEGUN. Not an automatic Shotgun, which would make sense with the current range. They need a MASSIVE range increase. |

Considering that this is the definition of OP, yes. Second, it also hurts the diversity of the game. You can't have balance without usage balance.
Also, for the record, calling something a rifle implies nothing about range. To be considered a rifle, the projectile must be induced to rotate. That is all. Maybe, in this case, it helps the plasma stay compact. |

First of all this isn't COD... Don't have anything against COD, but most of the players here rely on more on teamwork. COD is not exactly their style. Yes all of us play it once in a while to let out our frustration from games like MAG, SOCOM, BF3 and DUST. Its nice to kill some cry babies once in a while...
I run Proto Assault. They nerfed the range? So what, i shouldnt be sniping with an AR in the first place. Its difficult? Sure it is... Was getting pampered by the Sharpshooter way too much. Now i can be up close and personal... Can't do it? Pick up a sniper rifle. The aiming is a bit off, other than that, it isn't as bad as the HMG
This wasn't supposed to be a run and gun AR FTW type of game. Everything counts, i mean everything....

Pulling the science card here... Plasma is not a solid... the reason for rifling is that it induces spin on a solid object producing a gyroscopic effect. The spinning would impart centrifugal force, causing the plasma to spread apart. So, I guess what I am saying is that "plasma rifle" is a misnomer. |

If you're going to pull the science card, at least do it right. No one said that plasma is a solid. Rifling implies twist, that is all. Plasma stability in tokamak fusion reactors are partially stabilized using twisted, or helical, magnetic fields, thus, the closest real analogue to a plasma rifle, would be a tokamak style fusion reactor.
When talking about energy levels associated with hot plasma, centripetal force is much too weak to be a major concern. Far more important is the natural tendency of the charged particles to repel each other, and it's here that the helical magnetic field helps. By definition, a plasma contains charged particles primarily.
Now, back to the fictional setting of the game, again, calling a Sci Fi weapon a rifle means basically nothing.

Rotating a small electromagnetic field inside a larger one can produce acceleration, which in the case of a Blaster rifle would effectively make the projectile self-propelled, giving it a longer range than it can otherwise achieve. This would also explain the massive range difference between ARs and Shotguns when they use the same technology to deliver plasma onto a target. |

Centripetal = to seek center Centrifugal = to flee center Bro, do you even Latin?
A tokamak fusion reactor requires the plasma to be confined within the tokamak. Also, in a plasma there is usually a great disparity in the velocity of the plasma particles. The plasma would dissipate rapidly outside of tokamak or stellarator. |

I think I know what I'm talking about regarding centrifugal vs centripetal. Check it out. Centrifugal isn't even a force, it's a perceptual illusion.
You're right about your plasma comments though. So, Yay, we can (I hope) agree that centripetal forces do not factor in when discussing hot plasma interaction (mm, hot plasma interaction ) and that calling a Sci Fi weapon a rifle means nothing about it really.
