So after managing to play some games without being disconnected, I came back here to throw in some of my [hopefully] QQ-free thoughts on Uprising.
[Bugs]- Still getting regularly DC'd from games, along with my entire squad, but this will likely be the first thing CCP hotfixes/problem-solves, so I'm not particularly worried about this.
[Gameplay]- Playing through a full game with a full six man squad, I have to say that I don't think the balance is as ridiculously off as many people are saying on these forums. The new aiming system is a little strange, but you can become accustomed to it with time. It's great to see such a great diversity in the player base now, I rarely see two people using the same frame and race in one area at any time. I have to say it is much harder to revive team-mates when they don't realize they need to press "call for help" in order for me to see them, and my repair tool seems to have a harder time locking onto people. The addition of the repair indicator is a great help however, so now I don't get blueberries running out of my range as much. The game seems more vibrant, and it's nice to see that not every map is surrounded by sniper-infested hills, but some maps still retain this feature, unfortunately.
[Skill System]- SP Sinks just about sums up the new system. As a logi I don't have a big problem with the massive Electronics/Engineering costs, but I have no doubt they have a profound effect on the CPU/PG deprived. Core skills like Field Mechanics have also seen a small raise, from x1 to x2, which isn't a big deal, but when you change 5 or 6 skills by increasing their multipliers by 1 each, it makes a huge difference that wasn't in any way necessary. I don't have half the amount of logi-related skills as before, and I didn't even have all of my SP into logistics last build.
[Overall]- 6/10, I wasn't blown away, despite all the hype over this new build that said otherwise. I don't think the new weapons on the 14th will change my rating much. |

I'm a little underwhelmed with it to be honest.
My biggest gripe is the aiming. It sucked in Chromosome and is still sucks now. It seems like they just decided to throw a bigger sensitivty range at us, and that was not the primary issue. In my opinion, aiming is not something that you should have to get used to, it should be crafted to the point that it just feels natural. It still doesn't and I still can't really understand why CCP hasn't figured this out yet when just about every other FPS now days has.
Besides that: the graphics didn't improve as much as I thought they would Frame rate doesn't seem any better Still loads of texture pop in Lots of bugs I seem to be clipping on terrain even more now There's one spot on manus peak where there seems to be an invisible wall in an open area Couple sound glitches The maps are not designed for the recent range changes and everything is really awkward because of it.
Overall it's okay. It seems like somethings got better and some got worse. It's not the end of the world but I thought Uprising would be a massive update in terms of polish/refinement, but that doesn't seem to be the case. |

On 14th we get new weapons, new maps, domination mode, and planetary conquest too. I am satisfied with what we have right now myself, and yes, SP is increased, but at least I can feel good when I reach prototype level gear and actually be beast (in a few months haha). :) |

i agree with most things said here. especially the resurrecting and logi tool being harder to lock on. im enjoying the new graphics, and still need to tweak the sensitivity a lot.
i like the gun play more, but dislike everything seeming to have a shorter range.
i am having massive issues with shiny surfaces but im goong to adjust my tv a lot, hopefully sort that out. |

It's day one of uprising people. Chromosome and codex had teething problems on first few days, but they were fixed. There's always problems the first few days. |

I say, let's let everyone get settled into Uprising, especially after the 14th. I think things will get better as people get used to the new stuff. |

Good review, and indeed the call to help is one of the most broken things in the game atm, i played as a medic for a while and no one called in triage, no one. It was abismal. The only things i really disliked were indeed the call to help, the turn speed is lower, the raven suit issue for gallente guys. id give it a 7 in 10 |

The call for help is a blessing in it's own right. If someone doesn't want to be picked up they can't be (unless I'm mistaken on how it works). Before you'd get downed and some guy would run up revive you, only for you to get shot again by the same people.
Control's are still clunky, player collision is ********, iron sights are much better but still not ideal, lower Sp rewards sucks donkey balls. Oh and blue shields fer dayz. However the ease of reviving people without needing your injector out is a god send, I'll give them that. |

So initially, like most I was pissed at the changes, but I have had a chance to calm down a bit. However, that doesn't mean that I like all of them.
* Heavy Nerf was too big. You just don't nerf two stats (range and damage) and call it good. It's bad business and honestly, after playing my heavy, I'll not play it again until its fixed. * I'm ok with the fluffy stuff like graphics, in a lot of ways it makes sniping easier. * Not happy at all with the SP or ISK sinks. I understand that games have to have sinks, but we don't even have an economy yet and from my opinion (until CCP says otherwise) the sink was put in to hit the early Open Beta guys who amassed a fortune and got even more after today's patch. The fact is they aren't hit that hard. The one's who were really hit hard were the players who are not great players and can go 20+/0 in a match and not have to worry about buying new setups all the time. * Lots of controller response lag. Specifically the "Action" button. * I don't actually understand the logic, but Boosters are now set to x1.5, but base SP was lowered, I get the same amount of SP as I did before, why change anything if the net result is the same? * Server stability and FPS are a big issue as well. * Nothing against Logi, but the various nerf's to the other classes has cause an over abundance of Logi's. Shield Extender stacking is making them almost invulnerable and I have never seen so many Logi's in a Skirmish before. If the many players are choosing Logi, then there is a reason. * More of a complaint than a system issue, but I'm not sure how I feel about the "New" Manus Peak. As a sniper it was by far the best sniper map and the terrain changes to it just aren't kosher to me. I mean there isn't even a peak on the map anymore. It's the same across all the maps really. All the high point sniper locations were cut down in size, literally, and in turn making it much harder to get a better view of the battlefield. * Hit detection is still an issue, but not nearly as bad as before. Head glitching doesn't appear to be as bad either.. * Stats are screwed across the board now, not just in Skirmish, but in Ambush as well. Not sure why this wasn't fixed with the patch. Of course, it gives us all the chance to better ourselves without our stats turning for the worse during the new learner curve that some of us are going through.
For the other stuff, some of it is just going to have to take of measure of relearn and readjusting, such as the slower gameplay. Of course some of the slower gameplay is a direct result of the nerfs. Overall, I'm disappointed in Uprising. I wish I could find more nice things to say about it, but sadly I can't seem to find anything other than the fluff. |

As a quick point people shield stacking are in for a nasty shock when the SR hits I will pass judgement once the new guns it and games settled down. This build seems to be rewarding smart fits a lot more because I have no issues dropping proto suits at the moment. But that might be because I seem to be the only vet who can use the new aiming system :-P |

The aiming took some getting used to but a lot better. The battles are slowed down by a lot. This seems to allow more people to get into firing positions. Team work seems to be a lot easier.
I couldn't get into FW until a few hours ago, but when I did I enjoyed it. I haven't done any corp battles to stepping into a game mode where almost everyone has mics and are using team work is extremely refreshing.
My main gripes are problems with deploying more than one nanohive. I'm not exactly awesome at ammo conservation. |
