Deleted all my mail after finishing a reinstall and 10 minutes later, PS3 turns completely OFF. Is anyone aware of this? |

Just got back form an extensive cleaning, took everything apart and removed all the dust. Gonna try again and find out if it is my dust or CCP's DUST causing the problem. Just worried because this problem never happened before, only after playing the new build maybe 2-3 hours, then would happen every 30 minutes to an hour. Will update. |

Lasted 30 minutes in DUST. Tested also by leaving another game on in a similar way and no problems whatsoever. It's obviously a software problem and not a hardware one. This needs addressed. |

I've since tested with both disc based games and games of the HDD. Ran disk game for 1 hour+ with no shut off, and have been running HDD game for over 2 hours and counting now. Sent an email explaining in depth to support. Can anyone let us know if they are playing this build with an old ps3, backwards compatible, ect? |

Enderr Wigginn wrote:This is a VERY common problem with the older "fat" ps3. It is called the yellow light of death (YLOD), because you will notice when it shuts off the normally green light is flashing yellow. What happens is the thermal paste on the cpu deteriorates and does not transfer heat causing a overheating event which separates the cpu from the mother board. It is not caused by Dust 514, it has probably happened because your ps3 did not get much use but now extended on hours of playing dust has cause the known problem with the ps3 to act up. There are repairs for this concern but in my experiences once it ylod's the repair is only temporary. For the 10th time it isn't YLOD I got it 2 years ago, fixed it and hasnt happened since. It could be the heat sink however, and just hasnt yet YLOD on me, just overheats and shuts down the ps3, bc it turns back on normally after it shuts off. I'm gonna open this bad boy up and apply some more thermal paste, if that doesnt work it 100% has to so with the software of CCp's new build. Also, I never turn this thing off, so it has nothing to do with not using it. |
