Please explain to me, how the following will help make this game an e-sport
1. why sacrifice gameplay for graphics (unrealistic narrow vision to make decent framerate)
2. why nerf mouse because it is too good" Mouse is too good for FPS so we nerfed it" (wtf mate)
3. why simply stepping away will make you invincible from incoming bullets (bullets vanish after x metres)
4. why are noobs placed into the same battlefield as vets
5. what is your plan, your vision, your roadmap to turn dust into something that could rival quake live or similar titles |

Because this game isn't esporting. Granted, you seem new, so i'll give you the benefit of the doubt because you have no idea what you're talking about nor does it seem that you've bothered to look into what CCP intentions for this game were/are.
It's okay newberry, the vets stomping you might seem overwhelming, but you'll pick things up quickly. |

It really feels like CCP doesn't know what they're doing here, and visions of e-sports are just.. visions that won't get acted on. It won't happen, and they're just irking a portion of their playerbase. (How big of a portion, I have no idea.)
Granted the main game is intended as a counter-part for EvE, but each shooter these days aspires for a place in the e-sports community. |

Posting on alts now?
I do enjoy your generalized "but each shooter these days aspires for a place in the e-sports community," as if you've spoken with the devs yourself..... |

1. The game doesn't actually look that good, I gotta say, especially compared to the triple-A titles. Frame-rate is the effect of a lot of tweaking that game developers call "optimization." This sort of thing will improve naturally over time with patches.
2. I have never used the mouse, but I have been killed by heavies who have turned much faster than I was able to in a heavy suit. I don't know if this is true, but if the mouse speed was allowing players to turn faster than restrictions put on the DS3, then this is a blatant unfair advantage and should be addressed.
3. A good rule to remember about game balance is that if people are always using something, or people are never using something, there's a good chance your game is unbalanced. Sharp-shooter was a "must-have" skill prior to Uprising. That leads to the obvious conclusion of, "If everyone is taking it, why is it even an option?" CCP recognized this and removed it, opting to set their max ranges on a weapon-by-weapon basis (you know, like every single other FPS game that exists). Weapon ranges can be tweaked with updates over time, so I wouldn't worry about it. With enough outcry, I'm sure the range threshold of most weapons will be increased.
4. Match-making is a touchy subject with many solutions. To make it worse, no one will know what works until they try it. There are basically 2 ways of addressing this problem: Restrictions and Incentives. Placing restrictions based on Lifetime SP, gear, etc., is one way to split up noobs and vets. The second way is to create incentives, either positive, negative, or both. A positive incentive would be more money or better salvage for a certain type of match, which would draw in veteran players. A negative incentive would be less money or lower tier salvage in public matches. You could also create an incentive where more money and better gear is attained by killing players with higher tier gear, which would make them targets during matches and discourage them from using it. Splitting matchmaking into different divisions based on SP, gear, etc. also runs the risk of matchmaking taking longer. If you make more categories, that's less people per category and longer wait times for matches. You really need a high population for that sort of thing.
5. Well I don't know. I don't work for CCP, I'm just a normal guy with some common sense and great ideas. I'm also looking for a job... just saying, CCP. |
