I really hate everything about proto suits. I know they're a part of the game but they are an unfair part IMO. I don't have a problem with equipment that can give you an edge but its bordering on unfair. You can hit someone in a well tanked assault proto with a full clip from an AR and they will still have some armor waiting when you reload. I wouldn't see a problem with an extra equipment slot or something along those lines, but its a little excessive to have suits with that much tank running around with no drawback.
Okay now that I've said it you can feel free to hurt me with your words.

Its like any other MMO. Players play for a long time and spec up to get to a high level. So they can kill and not be killed. Same goes for Proto suits. We all played the game for a while and want to survive so we run proto gear. Its how the game works |

I have only 3 levels of weaponry and I win 1v1s against PRO assault suit mercs with my militia AR starter fit now. |

It's the nature of a progression based system. There has to be some payoff for spending millions of SP and ISK on better fittings or no one would bother with them
That said, proto gear isn't invincible. Their drawback is that you get to laugh really hard at them when you waste them in their expensive fit in a free starter suit ;)

Agreed. The whole wait 5 months then you can play good thing may work for farmville in space but an FPS needs to allow you kill anyone from the start if you are good at FPS.
If people who have been here a long time don't know how to move up on a position taking cover and flanking by now they they will never learn....no reason to reward months of bad play with super shields and super armor. |

players that run that gear have usually earned the right to play in that gear or they spend the AUR to get them. i don't hate on them for using any of that gear. its a part of the game and i will get there someday as well. besides a proto guy is easy to take down if your in a squad watching out for each other and it always puts a smile on my face when we take one down. that's a lot of ISK. |

If you are good at FPS games it will not take you 5 months to kill someone in proto gear. I'm horrible at FPS games and I've done it in free gear. Just realise that you can't trade shots evenly, make sure you attack with the advantage. |

Dayz, Minecraft, Planet Side, Age of Wushu, Elite Dangerous and on and on and on.
Lots of MMOs don't have leveling.

Not from what I have seen.
So many terrible proto players out there running through open fields, not flanking, soloing even when they are in a squad.
The best games are when my team loses it all in skirmish gets red lined then we kill all the proto players.... after losing their proto gear the reds come out in less expensive gear...and then we get to stomp on their faces.
Seen this happen at least every other day.
Note: I have done this to Hell Storm and Deltaforce. I think it was yesterday we did it to a deltaforce squad. Also note i run in all starter gear aside from my Gek and militia AR damage booster. |

LOL Really now?
Mabey if you happen to catch one who went afk to chase after his Kitten for 30 seconds.
Or mabe if you have your AR Proficiency topped out and he is running in a proto suit with no SP dumped into anything that would allow him to survive in it.
You cannot seriously try to convince people that a Merc in a proto suit with a proto gun and proto modules with his SP in the proper place-it isn't that difficult to figure out what makes you live longer and do more damage-can be taken out by militia gear if they are shooting back at you with any sort of effectiveness.

I guess I don't have a taste for that aspect of mmo fps games then. I don't mind slight advantages that are rewards for hard work, but when you can essentially double the tank of a player just starting out that seems slightly unfair to me. I have a mountain of isk and skills points and have even tried the proto suit for a few games. I guess i think it takes away from what should be a well rounded competitive experience, whether you're the one popping in and out of cover or the one gobbling up bullets.

I'd say I've been owned pretty equally by both protos and noob suits. Not totally sure if that will change with the new build, though. |

yeah, i didn't mean that just by having the proto gear it makes them a great player. I'm just saying that they have put the time and SP to use the proto gear. after all this game is about team play and not being a single warrior that can destroy hordes of enemy all on his/her own. |

and yet proto gear and SP allows players to do just that.
Much easier to encourage people to play in squads when they are not given artificial buffs over other players. |
