And who is dumb enough to believe that Activision goes on forums, asks for player feedback, and then changes the game based on the feedback from the players? That just does not happen.
Story Time:
I was playing a game (solo) and I decided to use my mic in team chat. I came into the game late, and there was an enemy HAV on the field tearing all of the MLT guys up. There was a squad of new guys who had just come from CoD. Here is the conversation that took place over the mic.
CoD Guy 1: "Enemy armor! Enemy armor!" CoD Guy 2: "It's advancing on objective Alpha. Get RPGs to objective Alpha!" CoD Guy 1: "Fire your rifles at it! Throw grenades! Do anything you can to bring that tank DOWN!" More Experienced Player: "You guys know that does almost no damage to the tank, right?" CoD Guy 1: "It doesn't matter! Any damage helps! GET THAT TANK DOWN!"
at this point I call in my anti-tank HAV.
CoD Guy 3: "Friendly armor!" CoD Guy 4: "He took down the enemy armor, we can push up and retake objective Alpha!"
and the rest of the game was like that.
We NEED more players like this. One of those guys decided to skill into forge guns so he could take out HAVs too. He did not whine, *****, more, or cry on forums about how much HAVs are OP. Instead, he did the smart thing, which was to skill into something that could take down HAVs.
CoD guys are the ones who shoot at HAVs with their assault rifle. Sure, we HAV drivers laugh at them because we think they are stupid and do no damage, but the truth is that the guy who is shooting at your HAV with your AR does not care. He has one thing in mind, and that is to kill your HAV by any means necessary, and he is also lighting it up for his team. They are most certainly not the guys who go on forums to QQ. They are familiar with companies like Activision and EA. I'm still skeptical that CCP actually makes many decisions based off of lots of player feedback on forums. It just does not happen.
CoD players are not the problem. They play the game. It's the guys who post on forums who need to GTFO. EVE has a bunch of crazy acronyms. The only acronym you need to know is one which was created by FPS gamers.
INTFH.
It's Not That ******* Hard
I saw it when a n00b was QQing about always dying to rockets in Unreal Tournament, back in the early 2000's, long before things like YouTube were created. He kept dying, and someone simply responded with: Learn 2 dodge noob, INTFH.
All the forum warriors, aka n00bs and most vets need to learn how to play the game and stay there. INTFH That kind of mindset isn't unique to CoD players, but I absolutely agree. Playing with a really cohesive squad is a treat, and part of the reason why I never play solo. As far as the mindset of not coming on the forums, I'm not sure if we need to go that far, but a little more civility is always to be appreciated. |
