The AR can engage at max efficiency at ranges the HMG only wishes it could. |

The effective range only pertains to the damage of the projectile. The HMG's effective range is actually only about two-thirds of that due to the weapon's large amount of spread, which is greater than that of a hip-fired AR. |

I've always found it very easy to put rounds on target with the AR as long as you don't have a deathgrip on the trigger.
And ADS literally makes them pinpoint accurate.
The reason people treat the AR as if it does its full damage is that any missed shots are a result of user error, while the HMG uses a random number generator to determine the path of a shot, most shots missed by the HMG are a direct result of the Heavy getting told 'No' by the game. |

That results in - just like missing does - reduced DPS.
So... HMG gets even further ahead by encouraging continuous fire.
Again, starting burst damage is better on ARs, but sustained DPS is much better on the HMG. The HMG suffers from more and more intense recoil as you fire for longer intervals, so your point is moot. |

The first AR nerf just made the standard AR variants better. Hmm iron sights suck they were flattend creo is worthless burst is okay tac sucks All the weapons got flattened.
HMGs can't even ADS at all.
And the assault variant of the HMG is pointless because it just turns into a spitball thrower. The Burst HMG is a slightly more impressive shotgun, only you'll never get the benefit of the reduced spread. |
