(Stats from memory)
390 cpu 70 pg 180 shields 110 armor? 4 sec recharge delay 6 sec depleted recharge delay.... wow 5 highs 4 lows 3 equip 1 light wep 1 grenade
If any of the stats are wrong please correct me. Also I believe the racial bonus actually gives you more shields?
Cons
Larger hit box ( more health though)
Slower ( 4 lows -¦--¦)
Yellow not a con for me but does draw attention.
I would like to discuss if this logi suite is the new shield tank dmg monster....
78 PG, 90 Armor on the logi
Assault Ck.0 Is: 300/60 CPU/PG 210 Shields 120 Armor Shield Delays are 5s, and 8s, but the shield regen is 25/s instead of 20/s like the logi sprint duration and stamina recovery are higher.. It also gets a Sidearm slot.
Racial logi bonus gives you more shields, but only on shield extenders. Racial Assault bonus improves Hybrid reload speed, which would stack with the weapon reload skills I guess. |

Well, filling out equipment slots on the Logi will remove most of that PG/CPU advantage. It's there in the first place so the Logi can actually manage to fit equipment. Otherwise... what's the point. The PG/CPU difference isn't huge, but the Logi has 2 more equips and 2 more module slots to fill with it. It's not as overpowering in that context.
The HP on the Assault is higher, and that's X PG/CPU for the logi to even out that difference with modules, and would probably remove that advantage.
Honestly, I think the speed, sidearm flexibility (if you've never played a logi before, being stuck with one weapon is a huge issue), and the marginal reload bonus will make the assault better in combat. Logi can get higher shields with their racial bonus, but both classes will get wiped out by a single rank 1 flux grenade. The new scrambler rifle will also rip through their shields.
Having the sidearm slot is the difference between having a swarm launcher and nothing else, and being able to swap to an SMG when you get rushed. Being faster is the difference between getting out the line of fire, strafing well, or get gunned down. You can't fix base movement with kinetic cats, just sprint speed.
They've also separated most of the equipment skills up, so a Logi that actually bothers getting equipment skills has a potentially large SP sink vs. an assault focused on combat skills.
I think you'd have a better case for the Amarr Logi potentially being better than the Amarr assault, as the Amarr logi does get a sidearm, and other benefits. |

If you don't have a sidearm, you're practically forced to use a weapon with flexible range. Too short, and you just get gunned down with no ability to counter. Too long, and you're gobsmacked by people in close-quarters. As a practical matter, no sidearm means you probably should be using something like an AR that works at range and up-close. People QQ about the AR, but it's supposed to be the general-use sort of infantry weapon. The scrambler, combat rifle, and rail rifle are meant to be its equivalents when they all get released.
An assault having a sidearm slot (or the Amarr Logi for that matter) means things like lasers, sniper rifles, and swarms can be viable without crippling you. A logi with a swarm is dead man walking if anything that isn't a vehicle attacks him. A logi with a laser is crippled outside of the optimum range. A logi sniper that gets surprised has to either get a lucky grenade kill or a point blank sniper-kill.
That alone is a huge deal, and it's why I think a case for the Amarr Logi being combat-strong can be made (but the Amarr logi is supposed to be more combat-oriented too). I think the speed, suit & assault bonus, sidearm, etc. are enough to make the Assault (caldari) the better option for most combat situations. |
