When I first looked at the PG/CPU, equipement slots, base shields/armor, movement speed, etc I thought the exact same thing. The only thing that would keep me from going Logi/AR or something would be if they have a bigger hit box. The Amarr Logi suit has a sidearm, for those who would want one.
Also the role bonus for Logi suits is waaay better than the Assault one, at least in my opinion. Plus the racial bonuses for Assault suits kind of suck. Laser heat build up reduction? Sidearm clip size? Reduction of PG/CPU of hybrid weaponry? What a joke. With logi suits you can get hacking speed or increased efficacy of shield extenders (among other, less significant options) if you so choose. |

Logi Bro wrote:I think you messed your translation up. I'm moderately certain that the +1 to armor repair will effect the repair tool and the repair tool only. Plus, logi's are slower than assaults, so if you factor those two things in, then you are basically describing the logi's we have now, and I haven't heard any OP threads on the logi this build.
I'll definitely need to keep an eye on this. If you're right, then I might stick with Assault. If you're wrong, I'm probably going Logi just because the bonus is too good.

He is not a Dev, but closer then anyone else playing a guessing game. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he is wrong, at the very least, I hope he is wrong. Logi's didn't need this bonus, and it has no pertinence to their class, so CCP would ignorant to place a passive armor regen on a support role. This is why I think it is a repair tool bonus, not a personal armor rep.
What about logis that don't use repair tools? There are some out there and I think it's a valid way to play, which would make the bonus completely useless. |

There are some out there and I think it's a valid way to play, which would make the bonus completely useless. People that play that way are likely being discouraged to do so. It is the role of scouts to use drop uplinks or active scanners, the assault's job to use nanohives or demolitions, and the logi's job to use repair tools, nanite injectors, and another piece of equipment of their own choosing.
I think forcing, or attempting to force, certain suits into certain equipment or weapon choices isn't at all what CCP is trying to do. They're all about choices for the player and if I want to run a drop uplink in my assault suit because I know two other people in my squad are running nanohives, why should I be discouraged in any way? The same logic applies to the logi suit and equipment--if there's another logi running a repair tool, it's entirely understandable that I might want to forego that in place of something he isn't carrying. |

Logi Bro wrote:My point is this: Do you think a personal armor repair bonus is more suiting to a logi's playstyle, or do you think a bonus to the repair tool is more likely?
Lol have you seen the Heavy suit bonus? It's reduction to feedback damage. Now I assume that means for when your weapon overheats. In other words, this bonus does literally nothing if you have the awareness to track your own heat build-up. And even if you don't, you're still going to be stuck with a useless weapon for a few seconds if you overheat it, meaning everyone will be able to take free shots at you anyway. Plus you have so much health, it's unlikely a reduction in the damage will be important at all.
Quote:Personally, the latter is much more fitting to my logi, the former is more suiting of a heavy or assault.
That's exactly the point of this thread though. CCP doesn't always do the most logical thing. |

NeoWraith Acedia wrote:I'm telling you, your best bet would be to get them to change the assault class bouns to a damage modifier.
We currently don't have people complaining Logi's are OP just because they have more slots, they're supposed too.
I'd like that. They talked and talked about making armor tanking more viable, and the first thing they do is add a shield-only bonus to every assault suit.
Obviously it will marginally help every assault user, but it just de-incentivizes people even more to armor tank when they're going to have another bonus to shield tank. |
