I would prefer it if they stuck to things other than game mechanics. I care most about those, and at the corp battle level.
IWS: I thought about your railgun experience now vs. uprising, and I'd bet it's the increase in projectile speed. If you want to make railguns harder without "nerfing" them, you could make railgun projectile travel speed closer to what it was. Changing zoom, damage, and other things is a nerf, would not be appreciated, and would not change how hard it is to shoot a railgun by much.
Also, railgun damage is about equal to a forge gun's. You discussed removing the skills which increase turret damage, and this is the only thing that makes railguns do more damage than a forge.
80GJ Compressed Particle Cannon (Proto): 1798.7 HP DCMA-5 Breach Forge Gun: 2310.0 HP
80GJ Regulated Particle Cannon (Proto): 1438.9 HP Ishukone Assault Forge Gun: 1512.0 HP
I paired them up like that because the compressed rail gets fewer shots than the regulated before it overheats. The rails do have a slight advantage in the number of shots before a reload, but the officer forge is the same as the Ishukone, except it gets six shots instead of four. Infantry have skills and damage mods which can be used to make the forge guns a deadly weapon. Again, the only way the railgun on vehicles does more damage is by increasing the skill points.
If you would like to replace some of the skills which increase damage instead of other stats, you would need to make the railgun do more damage. It is kind of ridiculous that a hand-held forge can do more damage than a huge railgun mounted on a HAV. Killing railgun damage kills the railgun itself.
The blaster is the same thing, especially on the armor HAVs. To be effective, a Sagaris needs to fit a damage mod if it is using the 80GJ Scattered Ion Cannon. The armor HAVs benefit even more because they have the Marauder skill, a 12x skill, which increases the damage by 20%. This is more than what the new skills do, so it's nerfed already. There is no need to nerf HAVs even more.
A suggestion about the heat build up or available pool was made at some point, I believe you said by Jenza, but I am completely against that. The compressed railgun has few shots but lots of damage. Increasing the number of shots it can make while reducing the amount of damage it can deal seems counter to what its intended purpose. It is supposed to be a slow rail with few shots and lots of damage.
I'd also like to that Caz for coming in and chatting about a couple of things, specifically the current dropsuits and the new ones. He was able to point out specific differences between the current dropsuits, and apply that information to the new ones. He was right, but it was still nice to have a member of the CPM communicating with the community before making suggestions. I do not like the CPM just making suggestions and decisions about game mechanics without even communicating, listening, or asking the community. |
