Uh, your understanding of most of these races, OP, seems very... lacking...
The Gallente of all races is the least American of all in matters outside of political system. If there was a region of the real world that I would liken the Gallente, as an American myself, it would be the Europeans, especially those with languages with roots on the Latin language. Gallente philosophy is very much like Renaissance era France, or Classical era Rome and Greece. They value the arts and are very anthropocentric as a society. They value freedom of expression and liberty, and that may sounds like a very American thing, but those concepts already existed in Europe for a long time... much much longer than what the USA has been in existence. Gallente society is generally the least "pro war" out of all four races, and generally have the least amount of people willing to join their military ranks (which only increase after they find themselves in a mess that may or may not be their fault).
The Caldari of all races are the most American of all, mainly because of their highly corporate culture. But they are also share a lot of Asian characteristic, especially their sense of duty, demand for efficiency and their deeply-rooted traditionalism.
The Amarr, they're not religious nuts, and they're more easily viewed as the Medieval era Catholic Church. In this case however, the Pope, which is the leader of the Church and the Church only, is replaced by a political figure that is also the closest religious being to their god that is alive. Even in the Medieval era, the Catholics had a raging hard-on for gold, and they showed this very prominently by building the most impressive structures of their time, and many of them still stand to this very day. They also have their version of "extremists", which would REALLY be the religious nuts of the game, but they're a minority that are not aligned to Amarr, and even the Amarr want to get rid of these people.
In any case, to bring myself back to topic, I'd have to say that I picked the Gallente. My original choice was first the Amarr, mainly because I liked their ship design (who doesn't like gold and really shiny stuff, really?). But then I read their bio and saw that they were heavily religious influenced. I had already been playing countless games and even MMOs where I would play as a religious-themed character, mainly involving Paladins, Priests or Necromancers. So I decided to play something that may have come more as a hypocrite, or at least that would seem like it of the general population (talking in-game here). |
