So it seems that CCP wants to insert the Gallente philosophy into Dust of "Get in close quick, and deal massive damage". Which is fine, they should do that. But it seems we have a recipe for disaster.
Uncle_AWOL has told me that they increased the speed penalty on plates even further (dafuq, 5% more on each level), and from Jenza's video it seems that Gallente base speed is the standard 7.0 m/s, so we can't put on a single plate to be be competitive with any other race. And the AR range was nerfed, so putting on plates means you can't even reach your enemy.
So you give us the option to tank, and then you take away the Gallente AR range forcing us to stay speedy... Alright.
So I won't put any plates on, I'll just use reps and kinetic catalyzers! I will use hit and run tactics using my massive damage AR (Gallente Blaster weapons have the highest DPS, trading it for range)! But wait, the scrambler rifle has 35 damage and 750RPM, while the duvolle AR has 34.1 damage and 750RPM. Wait what. And not only that, but the scrambler rifle has better range.
So you take away our option to tank, you force us to go speedy and get in CQC fights, but you make another weapon that has higher DPS? So with get in close range and get murdered because we have no tank and the SR DPS is higher... Right.......
Am I missing something CCP? |

And the scramble rifle has improved effectiveness against shields and reduced effectiveness against armour, while the AR does equal damage to both Why should I take cover when my enemy doesn't have to, and can have more HP and better range and better DPS. |

I gathered information and concluded what CCP is trying to do with the Gallente suits, and I pointed out how illogical their execution of it is. |

Dammit people, listen to what was said in that damn presentation, its near future stuff, not coming in Uprising. I heard what you just said so many times I'm beginning to wonder if you people have ears. |

Isn't the scrambler rifle an anti shields weapon while the AR is a hybrid. Meaning SR will burn through shields and slow down against armor, while the AR does the same to both shields and armor. Its the difference of 1.5 bullets. Its really miniscule. |

I am upset that no matter what direction I go, any other suit will have more HP, more DPS, and more speed and better range. While I do have the option to out HP anyone in the game (highest Assault armor base HP + plates), it will leave me gimped in any other area and won't even allow me to hit anything because my slowness doesn't let me get close to enemies. |

Vaerana Myshtana wrote:Arkena Wyrnspire wrote:Schalac 17 wrote:I honestly believe that the speed reduction for armor plates needs to be looked at, and possibly removed, if shield tanking doesn't make you an easier target to hit. A shield scout should have the hitbox of a heavy suit with enough extenders equipped to it, if an armor heavy has to run at less than 5 m/s with armor mods. Stamina penalty would be a far better penalty. Also, I agree with this thread 100% - I'm going to wait until Uprising actually launches, but CCP is repeatedly failing with their Gallente design philosophy, and indeed armour in general. There are the same problems in EvE, for crying out loud! Can't you see this? Yes, there needs to be some actual racial differences amongst the dropsuits. For instance, Gallente dropsuits might get a 5% reduction in the speed penalty for Armor Plates or a 5% better Armor Repair Rate per level of some skill. Similarly, Amarr suits might a bonus to Armor HP or lower fitting costs for Armor Plates for every level of the equivalent skill. Caldari suits should get better Shield HP or resists per level. Minmatar suits should get better Shield Recharge Rate or lower Profile penalties for Shield Extenders. CCP: "Woooah! We actually have to work to balance? But we love our blanket bonuses :<" |

Honestly having a Stamina penalty instead of speed will fix most of the problems Armor has. It will be great at 1v1, but the slow as kittens armor rep speed will force you to take cover for much much longer. |
