First off let me make it clear I am only speaking for myself, I don't really know where the general consensus on this issue was. I just want to say that I am really sad that the first thing the CPM is getting credit for is encouraging a delay.
The CPM probably knows more about the launch state of PC than anyone else, but I just wanted to say that I was really looking forward to getting some real gameplay going next week. I personally don't care if it was a bit chaotic or disorganized, we would have had a day or two after we claimed land to figure out the systems before the locks were removed. Corporations would have adapted, and in the long term it would have made no difference because the Corps that win will take land, those who don't will lose it.
If you guys want me to thank you for representing me by getting CCP to add more delays to vital features you'll be waiting a long time. I understand needing to delay a broken feature, but If CCP thought PC was in a state that was ready to go I really don't see how it could have not been ready on the 6th.

This is a good thing. Like they mentioned in the post, having Planetary Conquest open the day that the update became available would create a wildly unbalanced field for players who would like to spec into the new weaponry on May 14th. Since the first few days will be vital, it would be a bad thing to leave an entire group of players either unable to participate effectively or needing to skill into something they do not want to.
Besides, this gives us a couple of days to get used to everything before stuff really starts to matter. Good idea, I say. |

Imagine some people missed out on claiming a starting district simply because downloading and installing the patch took longer than some of the other players out there. You can't be putting something that is basically first come first serve out there when there is a possibility of unavoidable delay for individual players over others. That is the chief problem of launching PC in full on May 6th.
Furthermore - this way people have time to get used to the starmap and have a good look at where they might want to claim as their starter district instead of just having to jump in and grab whatever they see first because if they delay even a second to make a decision, another corp is likely to get in there first. The more prepared we can all be, the better for everyone. |

PC right off the bat was a turrible idea. Now we have some breathing room to download the client, rebuild our mercs, get used to not having Sharpshooter V, etc. |

This is a good thing, as Soxy put in there "The skill point respec happens on May 6th, but new content (weapons, dropsuits, etc.) being released on May 14th leaves players a hard choice: Spend skill points to do good now and miss out on the new items, or save the skill points and risk missing out on the first wave of conquest."
This was one of my, and several other people that I saw, major concerns. This is a good thing, and it's good to see that CCP is actually listening to the CPM

an example of successful communication between CCP, CPM, and us. Most of us asked for this and agree with it. SUCCESS |

However conspiracy theory nut jobs in tin foil hats will soon come up with the idea that CCP knew releasing PC before all the weapons was a turrible idea (I am stealing the word turrible BTW.) But they chose it knowing we would all complain, the CPM would then bring it to their attention and CCP would change it giving credit to the CPM and building our trust in their chosen CPM members.
^ I realise this makes me look like a conspiracy nut however I am not I just thought of this and my wearing of a tinfoil hat is entirely coincidental. |
