DUST is literally becoming the most AFK based game I have ever played. It's like, I start a game, there are 4 afkers, we begin to lose and more and more go AFK where it comes to a point where I may as well afk....
The game is becoming very boring because of this because when you are also winning, the same thing is happening and there is no one to engage with.
There are many ways to solve this including auto kicking, vote kicking if target is afk for over 60 seconds.
Right now, the game is just getting worse in terms of AFK, there are posts on the forums with people hoarding together to do it.
It is a very serious problem, because as someone new to FPS, this game is amazing, but the AFK problem is really really putting me off. |

Agreed, however I think the solution is to change the reward system. The ability to afk is kind of important if you need to answer the phone or you just want to grab a snack or something else trivial but needs doing nonetheless. Personally I think you should gain -5 sp (from match reward) for every 1 second spent inside the MCC.
This means that if a person spends 15 minutes inside the MCC they get nothing in rewards. The same should apply to ISK. |

You are totally in luck. After today it will die down, and the day after that almost no one will be aft as they will all have hit their cap. Then they will don on proto suits with their war chest and ruin your K/D.
and I suspect after the 6th it won't be an issue ever again. Surely, by the 14th at the latest. |

It's basically a giant middle finger to CCP and this game's community. I hope something gets done to prevent it in uprising while the ones that blatantly did it get punished. |

I'm not sure if i understood your idea, you want: Player in the MCC to lose 5 SP every second or Player in the MCC get no SP for time?
I think the first idea is bad, because if you have to answer the phone or else and spawn in the ccm you get punished. The second idea is better, the time spent in the mcc is not counted for SP and "afk farming" becomes harder.
EDIT: I would remove the SP for time also in the redline because if you are redlined you should try to get your ass out of there and capture something. |

CCP was told blatantly this would happen and they thought.. naw that will never happen in a FPS... now here we are... AFK is a blatant problem. CCP did this to themselves so theres no one to punish. |

If i practice Drop Ship flying in skirmish (solo, to not put other teammates at risk) do i AFK or not? And i use my pad only, no keyboard or mouse so from semantic point of view i do afk |

I started thinking a couple days ago about punishing AFKers... Either a 'Kick Player' team vote thing. Or what I'd prefer...
If someone has AFKed for more than 2 Minutes (Maybe longer, but why are you in the MCC for 2 minutes?), then when the game ends, they run a kick-script for anyone that hasn't left a 'Ghost' hitbox. The hitbox doesn't make any change to the game, but it will sense how long a person is in the MCC. The kick-script will be run in the split second before the result screen. AFKers won't get the rewards, and it will always count as a loss on their WLR. Soon, they'll get the idea that is they AFK, they spend about 15+ minutes sitting around for nothing. >:D |

Autokicking will not fix it as people will just touch the controller every 3 mins or so. The best way is to change the sp system so that time in game is not rewarded. It should be based solely on wps alone. |

@Ydubbs: I think you misunderstood. Theres a hitbox in the MCC. Its timing how long they're IN the MCC. Not how long they haven't moved in it. They could be dropping nanohives and uplinks in the MCC, but that's still AFKing, and they'll get kicked for it. Shooting your AFK-buddy? Still kicked. Cooking grenades? Kicked and KDR is garbage. |

The red line isn't just a tactical tool for AFK'rs. It aids with us Dropship pilots in escaping hostile AV fire, and allows a place for tanks to fall back and rest. Getting rid of it would be more detrimental to Vehicle users even when being a Vehicle user is a painful and expensive process. |

Once the afkers hit their cap, everything will return to normal.
The players backed themselves into a corner, not CCP.
CCP gave the SP options. People wanted rewards without working for it (just like they do in real life). And voila. Every time the cap is reset, we get afkers.
Now you have a dilemma: 1. You can't force afkers to do anything. That's a violation of the sandbox battlefield game mechanic. 2. You can't change the reward system without bringing it to a vote again. Which I doubt CCP will do.
Best way to cope? View public matches as a way to MAKE money. Stop giving a hoot about whether you win or not.
CCP did NOT make things this way. The players did. And like someone said earlier, many of us warned this would happen, and voila. |

That convo has been had endless times.
The red zone was added because the game would utterly break without it. I mean total systemic gameplay failure.
Spawn and die. As in, be on the overview map, try to spawn, screen goes black, then return to overview map. You wouldn't even see yourself with how bad it used to be.
Ignorance asks for a systemic change to the battle without doing a forum search.
The problem isn't with the red line, or even afkers.
The problem is and always has been with the passive reward system during the fight. |

It's a consequence of the need to grind even as a paying customer. You want to get your money's worth. I would enjoy discussing it with you after reading my views on the issue. |

Don't get me wrong, I like the red line. I like being able to spawn and not be camped (except by snipers occasionally lol) |
