What button do i push to talk?
Purpose of a universal voice transmitter?
If I turn push to talk off i'm "always on" correct?
...haven't played a game yet, but a bit confused here. Appears there are separate channels for local, corp, and squad. How do you switch between them? If these are dumb questions, apologies =) |

Evol Bub, if you need any help with the game, I'd be happy to run a couple games with you, and show you the ropes. The first games can be a little terrible, as a new player. Everyone gets that. He who doesn't: Obviously is lying, and/or a hacker. Hell, I've been playing for a while now, and I still die around 5 times per match. I fight popular people I see on the forums a lot, it seems, and even the pros die a couple times. So don't worry about getting murdered, its more of a team game anyways. Be part of the whole, and you'll do great. :D |

no worries, i never get discouraged. Well, if i do, I don't see it as a reason to stop playing :)
I think i have the just of the game. TDM & Domination...everything appears hackable. Not really worried about vehicles till I figure the skill tree out. Putting everything in assault rifle. Good idea?
right now, thinking about converting to mouse/keyboard. Haven't played an fps w/ mouse/keyboard since q2 (& a little qlive), but the advantage is obvious. Does anyone use dualshock? Might be fun to try and get good w/ dualshock against m/kb but i just don't see it happening.
I like what I see so far...can't wait for the final build. |

Its good that you don't give up. I hear so much about people quitting because it's a hard game. That's just New Eden. Unforgiving and unrelentless until you put in the work. It bugs the heck out of me when I hear about someone who's a hater against the entire game because they can't do anything against the Prototypes (Which none can do, mostly...).
Anyways, putting everything into the AR? Not a good idea. It COULD be useful, but after a while, you could want to switch weapons. For example, I have skills in Shotguns, Mass Drivers, Nova Knives, ARs, etc. Switch it up a bit! :D
And honestly, it doesn't give you a HUGE benefit, but it gives you a pretty good one. You're able to turn faster, but your aiming is a little less accurate (Who has completely stable hands...? Cyborgs, that's who...). I use the DS3, and I think I've fought against quite a few people using KB/M. Won against all. That's just based on their turning speed, though. :P |

think i need to turn up my stick sensitivity. having trouble keeping up with the smg class.
went assault rifle cause the damage bonus after level five (apologies I can not remember the names) looked good. Just had a terrible game (good chunk of the team sitting back sniping), but managed to salvage some fun hacking supply depots and the occasional objective. Went 2/9 and finished 3rd on the team. What a mess =) definitely thinking upgraded hacking is a necessary skill. |

Well done! 2/9 is much better than my first couple days... I'm jealous. And yea the damage bonus is pretty great, but why not just get 'Weaponry V'? it's a really nice skill to have. Also, if you're a Scrambler Pistol user, you can get a skill to get more ammo (I'm assuming you're an enforcer...), so that's one thing not to waste SP for. |

...been grinding the stock "frontline" dropsuit. figured i'll need a good amount of isk before i can afford what i want. haven't really looked at the market much at all yet. i'll look into weaponry v. Wanted to get a handle of the gunplay before i started investing in purchasing equipment / skills. Actually thinking pistol/sniper w/ the dropsuit the speed freaks use =) right about now, so yeah the assault rifle points were wasted. No harm, as there will always come a time when an assault rifle is a good option. |

Hey Evol Bub. Don't feel like your SP is wasted right now. This is a really good time to experiment because on May 6th there will be an SP and item reset. Assault Rifles are very good for short to mid ranges and are good for run and gun warfare, but definately fall short at long ranges. Plus it's good to have a good weapon selection for differant scenarios.
But like Artificer said, Weaponry is a good skill to level up as it will increase the damage with all your infantry weapons. Also skills like Field Mechanics and Shield Control will give you more armour and shields too.
If you want, feel free to send me a mail in game and we can get together for some rounds. I'll be on later tonight and I always enjoy playing with fun and nice people :) I can also answer any questions you might have too. |

..completely missed weaponry...sounds like what i was looking for.
With the push to talk, is that even if you have "always on" enabled?
when the skills reset do you restart completely or keep accrues sp/isk? i'm sure you keep the auir (sp?). Will there be another reset on launch day? |

If you have "always on" then you don't need push to talk. He probably read your first post and missed the previous conversation accidentally.
And when they reset, you'll keep the amount of SP you have, but all the SP you have spent on skills will be refunded. Also any gear you have will be refunded too. You get to keep your current AUR and any AUR items you purchased will be refunded unless they have already been lost in battle or consumed. |

so it's more like a re-spec then an actual reset? Didn't know that, figured launch day everyone would start at zero. Cool, wish i would have started sooner ;) |

evol bub wrote:Putting everything in assault rifle. Good idea? Some players advise putting your SP into "core Skills"...broad Skills that will help many weapons you will use (Weaponry, Light Weapon Sharpshooter, etc), rather than putting them into a specific weapon. And then there's useful Skills like Field Mechanics. I think a judicious mix of broad Skills and specific Skills is good for new players. Also, adding the right modules can be a lot cheaper for a new player (i.e.--Shield Extender modules, vs "Shield Control" Skill). There is some guide to this at my new player's guide: http://wiki.dust514.info/index.php?title=The_Newberry%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy
Be aware the entire Skill tree is being heavily revised on 5/6. No one knows if there will be a re-spec or reset on launch date (5/14), but many think there will NOT be.
Plenty of vets in the forums recommend DS over KB/M.
