And with friendly fire on, that could make for some twisted gameplay techniques!!
Think about it. Your homeboy has a Viziam LR.
You have a Mirror Riot shield... and a really good angle on the enemy.
They are hiding from his laser.
Your homeboy shoots his laser at you, and you reflect the beam right onto a patch of enemies.
The laser will bounce off as many shields as you want. Give the shield a 'focusing' bonus to essentially extend the lasers range.
In the least, this would make for good laughs. At best, I can think of some awesome tactical maneuvers, both offensive and defensive.
I think it would be great.
Imagine, 4 or 5 players sharing a beam. Literally able to control and guide it, to attack various enemies, for it's duration.
Since it would require friendly fire, you'd have to be careful, or you'd just fry your friend. |

To put it more professionally...
The principle behind the idea is synergy.
Logis synergize well with everyone and everything.
Why not develop weapons, tools, and equipment to maximize direct synergy between the roles?
My example was what a riot shield variant could synergize with... A laser rifle. Essentially, giving the LR user the ability to shoot around corners.
Or perhaps, a firing squad of Heavies could move together, and link their shields together creating a phalanx field effect of some sort.
Technology changes, but the principles of war won't.
Let's take a look at what we have in game, and think of creative ways to synergize them.

Heavy with a shield would be kind of cool. Sidearm only of course. |

Hard to deploy. Silly if someone screws up trying to do.
But props are in order when people pull it off and do it well.
I'll have to stop and brainstorm some ideas, so people get a better understanding of what I'm trying to communicate.
LR/Shield is just one idea. |
