So some people know that i've been searching the answer of the Number 4# problem of Mercs, Shield or Armor? In my case, they are tanks, so I didnt really wanted to rush my decition. But after a while of testing, I decided to put my X3 SP of the week into a madrugar.
And now its a week that I have been playing with this madrugar, and today I just had the best feeling and I knew that armor tanks were my definitive choice, why? I survived my first orbital with my madrugar today, along with a swarm shooting. But was that only? nop, they shot a second orbital just to make sure I died. :D
So basically, this week playing with the madrugar, I have destroyed aprox. 20 of my madrugars, and close to 10 enemy tanks. I know some of you will say "WTF, 20 madrugars!? Never play tank again dude". It actually doesnt matters, I think there are over 500.000 SP invested in this Madrugar, and it still doesnt haves everything highly upgraded, but what its the good part? This bad boy only costs me 550.000 ISK, which is 3 good ambushes, 5 bad ambushes, 2 good ambushes and a bad one too.
When uprising comes, I have myself planed on becoming a madrugar blaster tank, and since im getting refunded along with it 4000 AUR, Im investing the AUR in those tasty railgun aur gunloggi. Man I just CANT WAIT for uprising.

Good to hear. I love my Madrugar myself. While I am no where near a great tanker, just a passable one I like to think, I still lose them by the droves to pilot error because I go too long between matches where I actually use them. So I forget the lessons learned previously.
PS: Always nice when you **** off the reds so much that they start dropping OB's on you.
Edit: Nothing more fun than a tank on tank brawl I think, even if I loss, still great fun. |

I recently drove a Gunloggi and they were fun, a very different feel from armor tanks with lots of less micro management. Although I found I actually missed activating 6 mods every 30 or so seconds with the Gunloggi. The speed was nice with them, but I do agree that the active resists on them needs tweeking, like longer cycles and shorter cool downs, but that's a topic for another day. |

If you ever drove a shield tank you can never go back to armor. IDK if you can tank a orbital standing still, and have that much better defense mods, its so SLLLLOOOOOOOw it was painful to drive. |

If it so slow, then why you have a heavy avatar instead of a scout avatar? Dont you like going fast? HUH!???? Joke, armor tanks and shield tanks are completely different, and each one haves their good things and bad things, you may like the shield tank because of its speed, I like armor tanks because of the amounts of damage allowed to sustain.

If they made it 60% resistance for the shield hardeners and kept it art 10 seconds id be fine with that. |

Yep, a shield tank with 4000 shields and no hardeners can survive an orbital if you put an active speed booster on it and press "W" the second you see blue. It won't even get through half of your shields. Speed is better than HP in my opinion. |

The speed of armor tanks can be improved by utilizing the fusion accelerator. I've outpaced lav's from time to time when that thing is in full swing. Sadly when stacking plates the beast still takes time to pick up speed but if you keep moving there tend to be very few times when speed becomes an issue. Turning speed is what bothers me, the thing turns like a horse drawn plow, just... slower. I like to run shield tanks from time to time but armor is where its at for me. As far as orbitals go, I have tanked an orbital sitting still and come out with full armor, try that in a shield tank. Though if your modules are on recycle it can be tricky surviving the things. |

550k isk? Mines 457k, survives quite well too with 2 carapace mods and poly plates. Nobody mad enough to drop ob on me yet but mad enough to put forth the small effort of hate mail lol.
I like all tanks overall. Both armor and shield. Tried missile tank other day, didn't get many kills but got 2nd place, survived whole round. Gone blaster mostly. Want to put rails on next.
Just can't wait for uprising, going to dump a lot into vehicles overall, as I like them all.
Skeptical about the enforcer tanks though, not sure about them yet. |
