While going afk during a match is not MY preferred method of play I would like to ask some of this community's more vocal opponents of the practice, "what gives you the right to dictate how anyone else plays the game?"
Seriously, you are playing a multiplayer competive team centric game in a sandbox style environment. People are free to choose how they play, how they compete and what they do or do not with regard to match contribution and skill point/isk gain.
If CCP were to support your misguided attempts to dictate to others how they were to behave in game then what prevents your next campaign from being 'stop the blueberrys from not taking objectives' or 'CCP, prevent the use of non-assault rifle weapons'.
What does freedom of choice mean to you people who want to prescribe how others play according to your priorities and desires?
Don't like afk players? Join a corp and get in squads. Don't play pub matches where team effort is at its lowest. Orwaitfor a game update that will undoubtedly rejuvinate beta tester interest in game participation.
But for goodness sake, don't demand that everyone else comply with yor wishes and play the way you choose to play.
And don't start that crap about, ' CCP has said this style of play doesn't coincide with what they'd like'. Of course it doesn't! They've built a massively multiplayer game. But they built it in a sandbox style environment that doesn't squelch freedom of choice and emergent gameplay.
They know better than to prohibit action not deemed exploits. Do you? |

Mr Barlom, perhaps you should seek counseling. Your personal issues obviously are being mixed up in your responses to strangers playing a video game. There is help. You should seek it out. |

Fortunately for you and your kind, CCP seems to favor people not playing their game. Here's hoping things get shaken up with Uprising DUST Fiend, you and Sentient both care a lot about Dust as a game. You both enjoy playing Dust. You both want the game to succeed.
Stop looking at every difference between your two approaches to the frustration of a long hard beta as insurmountable. They're not. Focus instead on those things we all have in common.
Sentient, and every player who has ever afk'd a match in Dust, loves this game so much that they'd rather electronically loiter in an MCC than play Skyrim, Defiance, hopscotch or baseball. Remember that! These players believe that what they gain now by afk'ing will be worth it to them later when the game is updated
Everyone should try to stop hating and blaming and flaming and try to understand what the other person is doing. And why.
