Someone give me some info on this
Watching fanfest and one of the devs said that their not tied down to the ps3 gpu. What are they using then? Steaming? |

I heard them say at one point that the limiting factor in Dust graphics at this point is not the PS3 hardware...in other words, the extra "work" the PS3 will be doing with graphical updates is more than offset by the increases in efficiency in their code, so framerate should improve rather than degrade with Uprising. Could that be what you're referring to? |

Unreal Engine is platform agnostic, this is why CCP aren't tied to the PS3 GPU. |

That's an excellent question 4447. The issue I believe was that some people were more worried about the performance and the smoothness of the game rather than the graphics. When I talked with the dudes about this before the fanfest, some of them were worried that the better graphics would come with the cost of even worse performance and FPS. Well the fact of the matter is that the current suboptimal performance is not because the lack of horsepower in the PS3 GPU, man. It's more of an issue that can be solved by optimization. Overall the most limiting factor in the PS3 hardware is the RAM. |

For what I know gpu that handles everything in the game. Cpu does the initiative, gpu handles everything like graphics such as physics, sounds, environment, AI, etc. Think of it like a hybrid hard drive. |

I'm still skeptical of this. If you reduce you're PS3s resolution to 576p (from 720p), then Dust's framerate will increase by quite a bit. Lower framerate at higher resolutions is almost always due to a GPU bottleneck. |

Is there anyway around the ram issue? |

I'd like to see it answered, it would help us understand what the ultimate potential of DUST on the PS3 really is.
My interpretation of 'we're not GPU limited' is that the CPU isn't spending time waiting for the GPU. |

Bandwidth issue is probably the smallest budget they have. Ps4'sdedicated processor would help alleviate some of this. |

Games in beta run allot with debugging stuff in the background, once they take this out the performance gained will be quite substational, also code optimizing and shader tune ups will definatly help allot.
Should be fine in the future, but right now the dips cause my aim to go ApeDerp sometimes. |

CCP devs say some crazy stuff sometimes....that is what i chalked this up to when they said it.
At E3 the dev said "matchmaking is mathematically correct" for example.
Edit: Crap this is a necro thread....Damn you PS2 bomber!!!
