Aiming seems clumsy, are there good controller settings to improve it?
I'm sure there's previous threads on this topic, but the forum search is so bad I can't find them.
No matter whether I'm strafing with an AR, or using a long-range weapon, it's hard to make the right, small-enough moves of the crosshairs. It's either barely moving, or making much too large of a move. |

For now you might try adjusting the controller sensitivity. You can also adjust the size of the hit box under the move controller settings.
Other than that wait until the 6th for the new build. |

@Iskandar: Yeah, I already messed around with X Sensitivity, but I didn't feel like any setting was good. |

Does deadzone sensativity in move settings have any impact on the deadzone for the joysticks? |

For long-range precision you may want to try using a mouse. Lately I've been experimenting with using a mouse to snipe and switching back to the trusty DS3 for run&gun, and it's been going pretty well. |

I'll hold the DS3 in my left hand to maintain some movement ease and so looking down the sights is a lot easier. Definitely awkward but seems to be the way for sniping. |

Since the DS3 has a motion sensor, it's probably safe to set all that to 0 just to be safe. It might have been a placebo effect but my aim got noticeably better. Also, turn off aim-assist, it's total crap. |

For forge gun sniping there is no equal to KB/M combo. The accuracy I achieve with my KB/M setup while using a forge gun is insane. Even though the KB/M I think is overly nerfed. What do I mean by that? If you use a DS3 you get excellent precision. you select a sensitivity and that sensitivity serves you well for LR and AR and SR and every other gun that is either sights over an area or zoom increasing pixels. The forge gun gets neither of these. The forge gun reticule is a box, and everytime you target someone you need to find the center of that box with no onscreen help. Granted you could tape your TV/monitor so that DDC is always seen... but I spent almost $1000 on my TV and my main PC monitor was $320. I ain't sticking scotch tape to it like it is a glass screen CRTHDTV. If it was I would windex the **** out of it everytime I wanted to watch a movie.
But, honestly, just like in all FPS. Try different settings out. Play a round with 5 and see how you do aiming. Not score, just how you engage a target. If it is too fast go lower, if it is too slow go higher, until you find the setting that fits you. DS3 has a huge advantage in this game as KB/M I need to reset my mouse multiple times to track a target in a turret. With DS3, I just hold the stick whatever direction they are running and it follows them. Even as a heavy, I have to pick up my mouse so much to spin and follow a fast assault or logi and scouts.... I just hit "s" when I am fighting a scout and hope that the environment doesn't let them strafe me. |

FWIW, that jumpiness to fine tuning your aim crosshair- you do get used to it.
One issue with this is I think it is more to do with lag than anything else. I just notice the severity of the amount of a move it might jump is largest when other lag induced issues are going on. Like when I am firing full auto with two heavies firing full auto- my gun sound and animation jumps. so am i actually hitting them with everything or not? It doesn't seem like it... but how can i know? Also, peppered in there is stutter, like even other people on chat call it out, a system wide minifreeze.
And then other games there's none of that or some of it. There is no rhyme or reason. Oh, did i mention that the charged sniper rifle reloads and sometimes fires whenever it feels like it? I swear that **** made me into a crack shot with the thing cause i literally never know when it is going to do one or the other. One time it went of of it's own volition and got a kill. I don't even know what happened. Just got the +50 after it went off. But I digress, I suspect that is lag with my client to the server as well.
But you actually somehow get used to it. I tried to play some BF3 the other day. I figured I'd DL that last DLC I already paid for. Dude- I was owning like no other. Dust really amps up your FPS game. I mean, just shoot someone once in the head? DONE. And then it choke crashed my PS3 (and continues to do so no matter what I've done). Thanks EA! |

- Turn off the vibration on the PS3 Controller. - For whatever reason, the deadzone on the move controller also affects the DS3 controller. I've played with quite a few settings and for me, setting the deadzone on the move controller to 0 (via the in-game options) gave me finer control on my aiming. Set the X and Y sensitivity levels to whatever works best for you. I found anything over 50 and it's harder to keep on target especially at longer distances. |

Too bad you still need the skill. Don't worry if you can't get KontrolFreek, players Regnum and Deejae don't use them. |
