Technically, we shouldn't even call them rifles. Rifling a gun is something only the minmater would probably keep doing. A rifle = a weapon with grooved barrel walls to add spin to a projectile. Since our sniper "rifles" are actually rail guns (no rifling). We should call our sniper rifles "Precision Rail Guns". "Plasma Repeater" while breaking uniformity, would technically be more accurate. lol But who GAF?
Technical definition isn't really important, what is important is that people can tell from the name what sort of role the gun has. |
