I talked with ReGnUM and Uncle AWOL, both of which have said that the AR range has been reduced to a VERY bad level. Uncle AWOL tried to describe to me the range. There is a map that we already have and I forgot its name, but it was the one in the tourney. D and C are under buildings and there is a CRU near C.
If you climb the C building and shoot down at the CRU, you can't hit anyone there. That's how bad it is.
Also, both have told me that the Scrambler Rifle feels more like the old AR. So grab your Amarr holy weapon because the Gallente engineers ****** it up! |

I put a GEK on the Assault - Frontline suit and I kitten everything except protobears. Heavies are dead because I harrass them from long range then sprint into medium range, strafing, and they can't even take out my shields. Shotgunners? Plz. You need corners to get to me and even then, my spray in close-range is almost as devastating as your wall of lead, unless you're in a scout suit. Other assault rifles? Throw grenades and run away. Mass drivers: get up close and shoot. Lasers: same as MD. Forge gunners: kill Nova knife: Laugh and kill Snipers: Get OHKOd, go sniper hunting, kill It's effortless, man. EFFORTLESS! I suck at FPS games, and typically go 4 - 16 (this happened yesterday when I got smashed by shotgunners, trying to use a shotgun and failing miserably), but when I equip the AR suddenly a magical force bestows me with uber accuracy and extreme reflexes because suddenly I'm not dying and killing kittenloads of redberries! My K/D is above 1 only because of the AR. If I had decided to stick to another weapon exclusively, I would have been in pain. This range decrease creates situations which ARE NOT OPTIMAL for the AR. Currently, there are almost no situations where this is the case. Range boosting modules will probably arrive on the scene in a few years. Wait til them. You're supposed to outrange Heavies, that's half of the weakness. If a shotgun can't kill you at close range its because he doesn't hit you. It can one shot a heavy. Mass drivers are area suppresion. Lasers are the exact opposite of get close range, you keep your distance with lasers. In fact lasers have 1800 dps at the last few seconds of their fire, and can swipe you once or twice and you're dead. |

The gallente rifle should've always been close range, high DPS tbh. That's their racial style. According to the stream today the Minmatar rifle will be the closest match to the AR we know today, focused on balance and versatility. Which is how it should be. Only they didn't increase the AR damage, so its 100% nerf. |

Im just gonna say it, bullet physics like BF3. Hopefully they are working on something similar to it because it pretty stupid to watch bullets disappear 2 feet in front of you and getting spammed with hate mail because im "hacking"... it also breaks the game immersion. Exactly, he gallente AR fires bolts of plasma, which dissipate after a short range. Then Gallente engineers suck at making weapons. I can make something with two sticks, a band and a rock that hits farther than that. |

Also, to all the idiots who think I'm QQing, I'm just saying how ridiculous it is. Unless they increased the AR damage to fit into "close range high damage", then its useless. I'm moving to Amarr next build, the armor damage isn't that bad. Plus I have the flaylock pistol. kthnxbye. |

No other weapon can dish out that kind of damage - I gave up trying to specialize in the CQC Scout and started using the Assault Rifle. I just hit Proficiency 1 and already I'm downing other players in as little as TEN ****ING BULLETS! And don't even get me started on the poor Heavies who can't get out of the way of my wall of death. Assault Rifle NEEDED this range reduction - it's not supposed to be a God Mode weapon and it sure as **** isn't meant to have 100+ meters of effective range with the kind of damage it puts out. I changed over to the Assault Rifle and my KDR shot up DRAMATICALLY. I even went three matches in a row without dying. As a CQC Scout, that would never happen. As a Heavy, that would never happen. If anything, this just gives the players all the more reason to SPECIALIZE into a ROLE - not be a King of All Trades. The SMG has the same DPS lol I do just as well with a heavy HMG, or a scout shotgun. Both of which I have almost zero skills into, just enough to use them. |

My alt is heavy only and it can't hit **** with an AR unless it is basically right in front of it. On that same map the AR with no sharpshooter increase will barely shoot from corner to corner under the platform in the center of the map. Learn to play scrubs, your range advantage is going by-by. Then were using different AR's. |

That and even with no sharpshooter it's range was way to far.
You want an AR with long range wait for mimnatar AR since that one will actually work like an AR in real life since its an actual ballistic weapon. I think that's another reason why so much complaining is going on. They are stating a weapon that doesn't exist should be exactly like a weapon that does exist just because it shares a name. I AGREE (shocker) that the base AR range was excessive. But this is an over nerf, you wouldn't even be able to hit people across the road like that. |
