Your ideas are commendable, but the truth is most of the vets in this game love pubstomping on noobs. It makes them feel powerful, a feeling they can't ever achieve in their unsatisfactory real lives. Because lets be honest, this game caters to no lifers and the unemployed. A regular "casual" (stupid term btw) gamer who only has an hour a day or a handful of hours a week to play this game will continue to get stomped on for a very long time. There is really no reason to keep on playing when there are so many shooters out there that are way better at everything and don't require grinding. Everyone loves to claim how this game takes so much skill, how the CODberries can't hack it, yet it's really the complete opposite. Keep on grinding for that SP and eventually you can be a battlefield god no matter how much you suck at FPS games. |

Keep on grinding for that SP and eventually you can be a battlefield god no matter how much you suck at FPS games. The real problem, and why pub stomping happens so much is the lack of teamwork. Most of the newberries lonewolf, rarely backing up their team or providing adequate medical attention. Further, even if there are multiple squads, most of the squads rarely use tactics, or at least flank. If your on the loosing side, especially one that has been slaughtered, pay attention to how the opponent plays. Most of the time they are not just fighting you straight on, they usually have long-range support, assault pushing from all sides and a logi (or more) providing ammo/armor. I can't tell you how many times the majority of blueberries on my side refuse to help, rather they just charge straight at the opponent getting slaughtered again and again. This isn't COD where it's all about you and your KD, this is a team game where the victory is dependent on how well a team works together. Also, if you can't figure out how to win with even the basic tools then you are just as much a scrub as the people your raging against. Instead of constantly complaining how hard it is, or how you can't catch up to the no-lifers, or why you can't succeed because you don't have the greatest equipment, practice. Spend sometime watching how others play and if possible squad up with different people. The reason there is such animosity towards COD players is they come in to this game thinking it's the same thing, believing they can fight alone. But this is a team game and one that I guess is to complex for COD players. Good luck, Osiris.
I never said anything about this game being hard. I find it to be really easy actually, way easier than other shooters. Other shooters are more skillbased, this game is not. Most of my deaths come from facing people with far superiour gear, such as my Exile AR against a Duvolle with stacked damage mods. Is it really my fault that I lose that fight nearly every time even when I get the jump on them? They have play-to-win gear, I have junk. It is what it is. Other common ways of dying is the spotty hit detection, unloading an entire magazine into someone only for it to no damage and then they kill me. Or jumping around on the terrain and "falling" to my death from 3 inches in the air because of invisible walls and terrain glitches. Otherwise, I don't think the people that play this game are all that good, the best FPS gamers out there are playing other games. I haven't even mentioned yet the massive advantage most vet players have by playing with mouse and keyboard... |

One thing you have to remember is we are still in beta, and yes there are a lot of weird and pointless glitches, but this is still a beta.
In regards to your comment, essentially yes it is, there are ways to kill them, it might not be easy but it can still be done you just need to think about how to approach it (I might not be the greatest FPS player but I run cheap fits and can still hold my own against protobears) . Further, it also depends on how you are spending your skill points as there are a lot of passive skills that will increase your armor/shields (you have to remember this is both an FPS and an MMO so some of the skill also comes in how you build you fit). Again, as I said above instead of complaining why you constantly die, why not try to think of ways you can deal with it, whether it be the weapon being used, items, play style, or even the people you are squading with.
Lastly, I know quite a few former MLG players that are currently playing Dust and all of the them are very skilled.
I will reiterate this once again, your opponents are not invincible, you just need to think about how you can kill them as well as learn the positive and negatives of the items you use.
Osiris.
I never said I die constantly, you said that, and please don't talk to me in a condescending manner like I have no idea what skills to put SP into or don't understand common shooters tactics to kill higher level players.
Even with all the glitches, terrible gunplay, terrible graphics, terrible audio, terrible everything, the worst thing about this game without a doubt is the COMMUNITY.
You win ok, you win the argument, I give up. |

If you still have even the slightest interest left in the game, it might be worth till waiting until the next build releases, as CCP will be fixing a lot of the bugs, changing the graphics, adding a new game mode, more weapons and items as well as other things.
And if you want to try to continue playing during this build, the first thing I would suggest doing is join a Corp, it doesn't matter what corp you join, but being with other players and being a part of the community will definitely add to the game-play experience.
Yea, I've already decided I'm going to wait to reserve my final judgement on this game until the next build rolls out. Because a lot of the new added features and fixes do look interesting. I'm just hoping it's enough to outweigh the problems with this game. |
