Hiya, So here is the short of it all.
The audio setting in the PS3 menu picks up my voice. I'm using a surround sound headset . I can hear the game, and my squad but they cannot hear me.
I have reset my PS3, my headset, and everything I could think of. It seems to work with other games as well.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? |

Potential Problem 1: You have not turned on voice chat.
Potential Solution 1: Go to your Neocom, open settings, find voice chat, and toggle it on.
Potential Problem 2: You're using PTT without realising it.
Potential Solution 2: Open Neocom, settings, find Push-To-Talk, and turn it off. Alternatively, you can select the push to talk button on the top of your chat channels, and turn that off.
To use PTT, press Z on the keyboard or LEFT on the controller D-pad.
Potential Problem 3: Headset is set up incorrectly.
Potential Solution 3: I'm not sure, because I don't know how you've set your headset up. |

Do you have a PS Eye?
DUST seems to prefer the microphone on this to the surround sound headset. If I have the PS Eye plugged in I need to unplug it and restart the game to get voice to work. |

It appears you have tested the voice function in the PS3 Settings -> Audio Device Settings. If that assumption is wrong you need to go there first. Sorry to be redundant but this post might help others as well.
@Vyzion Eyri post covers most of the issues.
What is missing is the debugging information that can help.
When voice is enabled if you are not in a Squad as you enter a Battle (of any type) the current default is to have Team Speak Enabled. This should give you a little green dot by the Team chat label. If you start in a Squad then the Squad chat label will have the greed LED looking display.
When you are in any chat voice must be enabled, as V.E. stated. There are three main sections to the chat menu. The middle one should have what you are in Team/Squad, etc and directly under that label it should state "Voice Enabled". If it does not select that area and click X on it to enable Voice. Others will indicate you need a UVT to activate voice for that channel, more on that at the end.
The other thing that V.E. mentioned was the Push To Talk (PTT) and that will be indicated in the right hand column for the chat area. It will state Either Push To Talk Enabled or tell you how to enable it. I don't recall the specifics. If your controller is being inconsistent PTT can be very frustrating ... and occasionally lethal. However, being called to dinner can be disruptive to the Squad so find your own balance there.
The are several icons in addition to the greed LED indicator and they can be helpful in figuring out what is working or not.
There will be voice bubbles (like from a cartoon) to the right of any name that has Voice enabled. When they actually talk you will see it change to green in the center. That says they are talking and you should be hearing them. The same is true for you. If you are talking your voice bubble should switch to green.
If you mute someone the icon will have a red X through the bubble. This helps to remind you which babbling fool you have shut off. If that is a someone you want to listen to again then select their name and a menu will allow you to unmute them. There are selections for Mute All as well as UnMute All when appropriate.
If PTT is enabled then a Microphone icon is displayed on your screen when the button is active. This is addition to your voice bubble turning green as that is not visible when the chat menu is closed.
Remember that Team and Squad chats are free but all other chats require a UVT. EVE players can start a voice chat that doesn't require the UVT but DUST Corp chat and open chats require UVTs. I don't know many layers that use them.
Hope this helps. If it does please let us know. If not try to work through as much as you can and then add a comment that lets us know how far you got and what the various icons and labels are. |

Voice chat is on, PTT is off, headset works for other games and I can hear my squad.
The mic icon on the right hand side shows up as well but my squad cant hear me. |

I'm having the same issues; I at first thought it was an error with my headset, but it's set up correctly ( have checked several times). I know the mic works; Audio Devices registers my speech. I don't know whether it works for other games; I don't actually play any other games online on my ps3. |

If you have the playstation eye camera connected, disconnect it when you play. Apparently it conflicts with other microphones in Dust for some reason. Reboot the game and try again. |
