My Dust game is broken.......... It keeps saying that the cached data files are corrupt and I should reinstall my game.
I ignore this and try to re-sync 5 more times. Then I checked my internet connection and modem and they are both fine.
So now I delete the game and reinstall. I tried to re-sync and this happens 3 more times.
Is my time playing Dust over now? I'm really upset now. |

I searched and saw if anyone else had this problem and several other people are having the same problem. Our sync bars are stuck at 12-14% and they keep on saying "Cached data files are corrupt. Please reinstall the game" |

I had the same problem, did the same things you did, nothing worked. them i got angry and turned off the ps3 and went away for half an hour, came back, dust worked first try. I still haven't seen a proper fix for it, you just have to keep trying. |

When you deleted the game client, did you delete the game settings file?
If you didn't, I'd give it a try. Download another copy of the client, delete the installed client, and then delete the game's saved data. On the GAME column of the PS3 menu, up to Saved Data Utility (PS3) - delete the DUST file in there, and then reinstall.

Ok, I'm doing what you are telling me. Now I just need to wait for the game to finish downloading. |

One additional item is to rebuild the PS3 database. Search google for that phrase and you will find a quick explanation.
Also if you get corrupted file you should just restart your PS3 and try again before deleting and downloading again as CCP indicates that it might only be a temporary network connection issue.
The comment on internet speed is very likely your issue. Wireless is subject to massive interference and if someone is using any number of older routers, microwave ovens and devices that were made before the current wireless specs were in place. |

Same problem since April 23rd. I've tried deleting the saved data utility file, downloading the game again, rebuilding the database, reformatting the PS hard drive and reinstalling the OS update and a fresh download and install of Dust. Still stalls somewhere between 1% and 12% of the synch progress bar.
I'm starting to wonder if anyone has been able to join the open Beta since last Tuesday, or if the Open Beta has effectively closed to any new players. I'll try DoubleTap's solution soon, unless someone from CCP gives us something more specific and useful than "try again."
If this is affecting old players based on having broadband connections that are marginally not fast enough, some people might make it past whatever the problem is by opening the ports mentioned in this post:

We are very close to May 6th and having an answer Before then would be very helpful as we con ... oops, convince our friends to joining our marvelous adventure down in the DUST.
Unfortunately I don't really have an answer if the network connection is the issue. That just makes me nervous regarding lag and various UI interactions with game controllers and such.
Good Luck. |

I wouldn't worry, once you've made it past the synchonizing progress bar. The servers my PS3 is trying to talk to right before the 12% stall described in
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=716561 specifically
Quote:"You are about to connect to CCP Dust 514 servers. ..." -Pressed "X - OK" button 173.230.216.145 HTTPS 87.237.38.220 HTTPS 87.237.39.227 HTTPS 87.237.38.200 HTTPS 173.230.216.145 HTTPS 69.16.175.10 www 87.237.39.231 HTTPS
"Synchronizing... 12/53 ..12%"
Those servers are located in and run by
173.230.216.145 San Diego, CA - "Sony Media Software and Services" 87.237.38.220 Iceland - "CCP Games" 69.16.175.10 Pheonix AZ - "Highwinds Network Group"
And occur early in the synchonizing process, where I'd expect some kind of account verification to be going on, relating to connecting to CCP's database of characters, equipment, and market data.
I frequently don't make it to 12%. So I doubt the problem rests with whatever Highwinds does. My bet is that its Sony or CCP (most likely CCP) botching something about our account verification before they get to pull the data our PS3 clients need from CCP's database.
In other words, the real fix has to come from CCP, and is unlikely to arrive before they wipe our passively gained and unspent skill points, for the May 6th update. The skill points we've acquired but not spent may be lost, if we can't find a way to connect and spend them before May 6.
Even if you can't lug your PS3 to a friend's house, you might want to log on and spend your currently unspent skill points as a guest on someone else's working PS3, before May 6.

Even if you can't lug your PS3 to a friend's house, you [not you kal, anyone else reading this, whose having the same problem] might want to log on and spend your currently unspent skill points as a guest on someone else's working PS3, before May 6. Let's correct a misperception here.
All the data for your character is on the CCP server. Nothing is kept on the client. All SP, active, passive, spent and unspent are on CCP servers. You cannot lose it if you run your PS3 over with a truck. You can login to your PS3 account via a different PS3 (friend or not) and you can play DUST with all your data as complete as it can ever be.
Also, if you Ever see the 12% you have already made it past account verification. There are two steps, logging into PSN and accessing the CCP servers. If you don't get past Sony you get prompted to try again. If you don't get into CCP server you will not get anything downloaded. There is some auto account solution where you have a PSN account, you have DUST downloaded and that means the CCP connection is not going to need a second verification. Even their customer support is based on your PSN account, BTW.
What? Don't you think I have any local friends? I do. They are all on Steam though. |

The risk of skill point loss is specifically due to the possibility that when the May 6th patch and skill point refund comes around, that only skill points we've spent will be refunded, and that everyone will lose any unspent skill points. Those of us experiencing this synch error, might lose the skill points we haven't spent because we weren't able to get into the game and spend them.

Those of us experiencing this synch error, might lose the skill points we haven't spent because we weren't able to get into the game and spend them. That is what I have been trying to explain to you. SP is SP spent or not. If it is not spent it is still yours to use as you see fit. It is normally tracked as Available.
There is nothing I have read that states SP must be spent or you lose it. If you do spend it you will get it refunded as the Skill Tree is undergoing dramatic changes. However if one does not spend some it does not have to be refunded as it is still Available.
When the reset happens you should see Lifetime SP and Available SP being equal. This ties to all SP (and everything else) is on the CCP server. So if you go on vacation from May 5th until May 15th your Passive SP will still be ticking away and all of your SP you gained will await your return. Even if you log in from a different PS3 entirely.
What did you read from CCP that makes you think otherwise? |

Confirming that I tried this and it worked for me. My 1.5Mbps connection at home resulted in my getting the 12% synch stall and "corrupted data" error. Hooked up my PS3 at my brother's house with a 5Mbps connection and got past 12%, downloaded the update, and am good to go.
Anyone else having this problem, please post your download speed from the connection test, so we can narrow down the threashold at which this becomes a problem. The current work around is to hook up your PS3 to a faster internet connection for the update. |
