Since I don't have time to type it out, I'm gonna write placeholders and someone smart enough will be able to make out the argument.

---Dust is PS4's one of many insurance policies, CCP will eventually comply sony's requests to turn it into some sort of casual friendly FPS

In the pre-Fanfest talk the other day (during the kids' concert), CCP_Jian said that they are introducing a "Gladiator" mode that is specifically designed for e-sports.
He didn't give a timeline (that I recall), but it was said to be a priority. |

Not really concerned about esports to be honest. I've seen to many games chase this ghost and fail to make a decent game. CCP needs to add content, and more content. The need to upgrade the MMO side of things, then worry about esports. |

E sports = success, if they can put it into that type of arena it'll be much more popular. Look at games like starcraft for example. The game is years old but tons of people still play it on the competitive level. If we can make the game popular enough to be with E sports and all that.... well the game will have a promising future in my opinion. |

Nearly every game that has become an esports success, was designed to be a good game first. Esports came as a byproduct. Ignore the whole concept of "esports" and just build a good game, with lots of things to do, and the esports thing will manifest.
Also, even Eve has an esports element, and that game was originally designed waaay back.
Dust will never have the following of something like Starcraft, or LoL, etc. This is because it isn't as casual friendly.
It isn't esports that makes a game successful, it's a successful game that becomes an esport.

If CoD can be an E-sport... i dont see why this cant be one. Only reason BF3 never became an esport is because of their inability to fix a game, constant un-needed re balancing, and their so called "lag compensation" aka sh*tty netcode. |

We can esports right now, we just need someone to organize it. PC will make it more difficult but it would work. I was thinking obstacle courses and lav races to start. I have an idea but I need 4 mercs with HD video capture and 2 drop ship pilots. I can make you an esports channel. |
