i dont really think we can judge from what we seen from 1 map, pretty sure all 250 districts wont be a solid grassy plain. |

You're upset because you can't fly a bit, take some hits, recharge fully in your drop ship behind a hill, then come back out. Lol. |

It shouldn't feel like we're in a crater any more :)
I'm also weirdly surprised by how good those mountain ranges look. |

I like the look of everything so far, only thing I don't like is the new star map. I preferred the old one. |

No but now that you mention it i'd have to be aware of 5 km of ground shooting at me instead of 1. I just think it makes the terrain look bland.
It's a massive change done obviously to show off their new visuals with perhaps not as much thought having gone into the game-play consequences.
Having some terrain that is difficult to navigate makes for better strategies, choke points and such. Intel gathering scouts on hills etc. But now you can just walk or take a lav from point A-B with virtually no hindrance. Seems less exciting.
but no I personally never snipe. I suck at it. |

All vehicle users will be upset if there are no hills to hide behind, yet new AV weapons are arriving. Unless maps are actually as big as I'm picturing, and vehicle recall works how I hope it works, then yes, I'd be upset that I can't hide behind hills. |

I just wonder if those mountain ranges are only at the perimeter of the maps or still somewhat scattered inside it. |

The old one was 3 dimensional, could zoom right out to view the whole star map and zoom in to each individual planet. You could see lightening on some planets and could even see each moon. It looked alot like the EVE star map, take a look on YouTube and you'll see what I mean |

New starmap is awesome in terms of functionality and info, but old starmap with the info would have been way cooler.
Not a priority, imo, and probably best to keep the current one as default, but give us the option to pull out a "proper" starmap view in a later update. It's not a big deal though.
The old starmap didn't actually account for planets blocking light sources - line up with a planet (or moon) between the camera and the local star, and it shone straight through. Looked pretty awful when that happened, actually. Also, it was horrifically slow loading. Still cool, and like I said, would be nice to have as an option, but keep the new one as default - if only to avoid loading problems. |

Here's something you'll like if you weren't watching the stream, when they showed the new starmap, quite a few people went "need this in eve". I have to say that i like the way the new one looks, it looks good enough and looks like it's going to do it's job quite well. |

You're assuming there will be different height maps for every district. There has been no indication for this. Unless you have some source to share? I'd LOVE to find out it's true...
Having discussed this previously with my peers, most often they've referred to 2012 'shaping the world' presentation. Most have overlooked this: Sadly the speaker admits "unfortunately it's not practical to have height maps for every district" in a one short sentece.
CCP has evaded questions of this subject for long, they have not been answering at all.
DEVs, can we please have some info on the subject? |
