I'm trying to figure out something. there is a thing i find soemtimes that allows me to select a new fitting on the battlefield? What are the benefits of this? Does it allow me to wear a suit without the cost of it? You walk up to one and it allows you to pick a fitting you want. What is the point? |

To adapt to changing conditions on the field? I'm not really sure what you are confused about.

two main benefits.
1. It allows you to change out your fit on the fly. Handy if a tank or dropship shows up and you want to switch to an Anti vehicle fit. Then you can change back when you're done.
2. you save yourself the cost of the suit (it puts the stuff back in storage.) So it's cheaper than dieing.
Also, your new fit is fully repaired, so you can use it to repair yourself by changing to a different fit, and then changing back. |

But if you are serious then they are called supply depost and they simply let you switch to another of you dropsuit fittings. If you have something on the new suit that costs ISK then you still lose the item upon death. It also lets you get your armor back if you switch to a different class then back to the suit you were originally wearing.
Ex: I am wearing the starter medic suit, if I need my armor back and I switch to just another version of the starter medic it won't work. But if I switch to say a militia scout, then switch back to my starter medic then I would have all my armor and shields back. |

When you swap out of a suit, you don't lose that gear. If you die, you'll lose the gear you die in, not necessarily the gear you spawned in.
Supply Depots also refill your ammo (but you still have to reload), and when you switch suits, they reset your shields and armour to full as well, allowing quick healing and/or grenade spam. Both of these are somewhat frowned upon, but good luck finding a player who complains and doesn't do it for themselves when given the chance.
With equipment, which isn't treated as ammo and doesn't auto-replenish, using the Depot to switch back into the currently-selected suit refills these items - useful for REs, Nanohives, Uplinks, etc. |
