I wonder why a lot of males are using female characters It's not a critique i'm just asking, why? Do you like when a bunch of clones surround you in the pre-game lobby, admiring your new scout suits? I'm just curious, so what are your thoughts or your experiences?
PS. not only in Dust even in other rpg |

Some of my corp. mates say they go girl because they have smaller hitboxs (which is false), but in my opinion it's so they can watch the girls honky tonk badonka donk. |

There's mountains of reasons people choose a different gender avatar to their biological one. They range from aesthetic to gender dysphoria.
My reason is historical. I originally came up with the name "Xaerael" for a Diablo 2 character. An Assassin to be exact. Assassins were female in D2, so there wasn't a choice. The next game I played had the option of playing an assassin, but had gender options. I decided since my D2 character was female, my new assassin would have the same name and be female.
Eventually, as the internet developed, "Xaerael" became my standard handle, and eventually my IRL nickname (to the point people think it's actually my real name and I just have an unusual foreign name), and now my professional artist name, but any iterations of game characters remained female, harking back to that original D2 character.
TL;DR, Habit I guess. |

I play a male character but choose a female character when my daughter is playing along. She will only play/watch games if my character is female and she cheers when a female characters ends at the top of the scoreboards
I would feel awkward playing a female character being stalked by male characters. I prefer to be the one doing the stalking of the female characters |

I thought the female models are slimmer but today I saw a female soldier standing next to a male one on the MCC, the female was suprisingly tall and their sizes are roughly the same, and has the same profile/amount of pixels to hit. |

The guys who choose female characters because they are infactuated by there pixels looks are the weirdest ones. Why stare at any video game characters azz when there are real women out there in the real world. |

I'm a guy and I always pick female characters in MMO's, RPG's and other games that allows you to pick the gender of your character... why is that? just like KingBabar said I rather watch ass and boobs for hours than a male arse and second and most important: the design, in several MMO's and other games the armors and weapons looks better in female characters than the male characters, why would I have to play with Conan the Barbarian when I can play with Xena? |

Sounded just like my wife. I don't play as a female character, but hey nothing wrong with it. Oh tell me you don't. |

Weirdos lol one of the very reasons gamers use to be stigmatized as being the weird loner geeks. Don't think I ever approached dust or any video game sexually that way. "I don't want to stare at a dudes azz all day" who thinks about that stuff while gaming? Lol. You guys need to go out and have some fun and get laid. |

I see this question come up in many different forums/genre's. Anyway I'll throw my answer out there as some might think on similair lines.
I pick female characters if I "feel" the job/class it's associated too calls for it.
For instance in Dust 514:
If im going to be concentrating on a HMG build. I can't wrap my mind around a female carying some heavy ass machine gun. It doesn't fit. So I would pick a male class.
If im going to be a sniper. I am going to be using "bich" tactics, staying away from the heat of battle to increase my survivability. <---Doesn't seem very manly....Add to the fact that I will be wearing a skin tight scout suit only adds to the idea of feminism. So seems logical to play a female character than a male in this case.
For instance in other genre's:
Playing a class that uses heavy armor and a great axe-- male
Playing a class that wears tight leather and uses daggers-- female
But hey that's just how my mind works...... |

Geez.. my wife told me the same thing too. lol BUT I DECREE THAT AT LEAST BEFORE ONE MATCH, EVERYONE SHOULD WEAR THEIR BEST SUITS AND LOOK, YES LOOK AT A FEMALE SUITS BUTT. THE DEV SPENT TIME MAKING IT. SHOW SOME RESPECT AT LEAST. |

That is a pretty legit reason. The ones that baffle me is the guys who lust over them or admire there pixelated female parts. Dust isn't like xena warrior princess or nothing like that. The female mercs are fully clothed and the only thing that makes them different is there womanly parts. I wonder if the ones who say they don't want to stare at a dudes azz all day has that Buffalo bill silence of the lambs syndrome in real life. You are a man in real life but would you get a boob job and butt implants because you don't want to see yourself as a dude all day? Lol. |

I usually run male characters where they're available in games - except when the different classes have a fixed gender, like the Siren in Borderlands 2 (who's one of my favourite characters).
Every now and then, I like building a female character just for a bit of a change of scenery. |

Most of the people I know who run female suits do it for the psychological effect that the smaller visual pixels have. IE Female body is smaller and even if the hit boxes are the same you will try to keep up with what you can see which can make aiming slightly more difficult. |

Apperntly I hear about for hitbox abusion, their not smaller I been told but rather misplaced to just around the body, so your aiming for the torso ect and eing just next to where the hitbox actually is. However I doubt CCP would make such a rookie game development mistake. |

In Dust: I just think the female models look better (aesthetically, not sexually).
In RPGs etc.: sometimes I roll a male char, sometimes a female. It's just another aspect of the "role-playing" part of the game. |

Is everyone just standing around barracks for hours on end? Because the actual playing portion of the game is 1st person. So I end up equipping a gun I find sexy. |
