No problem. I was scared when i had the sync bar stuck at 12%, i thought my Dust 514 was corrupt or something! 'cause usually I just turn the PS3 off without quitting the game |

Same problem. I've tried the tricks offered elsewhere, including switching to another user and back. I'd rather not download the game a fifth time. Some DEV attention to what is apparently not that rare a problem would be appreciated.
If anyone else is experiencing this problem, posting here might help CCP prioritize it. |

Do this https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/369/~/remove-ps3-game-data-utility-files
and then "restore file system" and "rebuild database" http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Home-Support/Restoring-your-PS3-File-System-Database-Helps-to-Maintain-PS3/td-p/37322987 |

same here. I reinstalled the game, but that didn't fix the problem. CCP Frame said that "a simple retry" would fix it, so I did that, too. For an hour and a half, a couple times a day for the last three days, I "retried" to load the game and sync up, getting the error message every single time and just hitting "X" to try again. Still nothing.
CCP Frame, why you lie to me? |

When i switched from wireless to wired i noticed a difference in the % but it still failed so i took my ps3 to my buddies house who has way better internet than me tried it there and it worked first try so my internet wasnt good enough for this patch this was the first time and hope its the last. Just wish i would have thought of that 2 days ago lol now im back at my house playing dust just fine! Hope this helps. |

Thanks DoubleTap, that's something I haven't tried. I don't really have a good spot to do that... and I can't play so.. maybe the logs will show something! No, not *those* logs, they never show anything. I mean my Router's outgoing IP logs.
Router's Outgoing Log Table
Columns are: Destination URL/IP and Service/Port Number with occasional -descriptions of progress and "on screen messages."

Is everyone's else's Dust 514 synchronizing progress bar stalling in the same place, if not at the same IP? Sometimes I don't get to 12%, sometimes I stall on 1 or 2% progress, but the IP logs look the same.

So maybe some of us are timing out on Synchronizing progress, with occassional luck on retries, because the ping to one of the servers on this list is particularly bad. Will Ping/Traceroute show anything useful?
PING 87.237.39.231 ( 87.237.39.231 ) : 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 87.237.39.231: icmp_seq=0, ttl=240 times=120. ms 64 bytes from 87.237.39.231: icmp_seq=1, ttl=240 times=120. ms 64 bytes from 87.237.39.231: icmp_seq=2, ttl=240 times=110. ms 64 bytes from 87.237.39.231: icmp_seq=3, ttl=240 times=120. ms 64 bytes from 87.237.39.231: icmp_seq=4, ttl=240 times=120. ms --- 87.237.39.231 ping statistics --- packets transmitted = 5 , packets received = 5 packet loss = 0% round-trip min/avg/max = 110/118/120

120ms seems reasonably quick... working back through the list of IPs I get to:

Maybe I can't ping 173.230.216.145 because its HTTPS port is meant to be a little more secure.

Is any of this useful to the Devs? If the problem is latency related, will their own tests of the client's interactions with the servers simulate sufficient latency to duplicate whatever trouble we (of modest broadband connections) are having? Anyone? Any Devs? ... Bueller? |

Confirming that DoubleTap420's solution worked for me as well. 1.5Mbps connection wasn't fast enough. My brother's 5Mbps connection got me past 12% and completed the update. Lugging my PS3 back and forth was a hassle, but its a work around that works. |

Tom Bithof wrote: -- snip traceroute output -- The traceroute output is interesting however there is nothing out of the ordinary here. CCP documents that pings < 200ms are okay and > 250 are not. From a date transfer standpoint even pings that slow are not really an issue. TCP/IP is designed to handle those levels of inconsistencies.
Fast ping times don't really matter except for actual game play. These are data transfers or client/server updates and have no such requirements regarding speed. Just getting the data there intact is the purpose.
All of which helps you not one bit.
The only solution that appears to work is getting a better internet connection. Personally my internet is okay (comcast yuck) but I connect it through a firewall that is hardwired to my consoles and gaming pc. This prevents any interference with the wireless router from slowing up game play. I also block the game network from even seeing my internal systems. |
