- It could be that the floor is actually a shield and when you spawn you can only stand on it for 10 seconds before it makes you fall. There would still be an opening in the middle for jumping sooner.
- The lore behind it would be that, companies were tired of paying Mercs to do nothing; they felt they were getting robbed of their ISK. So they got corporations to implement this new floor so that you either fought for them, or are forced out for failing to do what they are paying you to do.
- Also, there would be an Instant death if you spawn and hide in the ground bases for more then 15 seconds (in one life, so you cant just go out and come back and restart the timer).
- Lore is that a signal from the base will cause your suit to release a large amount of electricity that will shock your nerves. Causing your brain to automatically shut down. Again, this was implemented on behalf of clients, to ensure there ISK is not being squandered on inactive Mercs.

XANDER KAG wrote:The MCC one is a maybe for me, but the ground one isn't necessarily clear. Do you mean inside the ground base buildings or the redline within the immediate vicinity of them? Regardless, some of those take longer to get out of than others, and for example on line harvest map those buildings are the ONLY cover against the enemy team. Basically your choice would be get killed by the enemy tanks that overran you 5 minutes ago or die every 30 seconds from the map. Only the ground base. |

Buster Friently wrote:I like the mcc idea with a little twist. Make the shield just like it is now, but covering the entire floor.
When you spawn in the mcc, you spawn clamped to the ceiling, already in inertia damper pov. Make it so after say 30 seconds, if you haven't pressed a button to drop, the mcc drops you automatically.
Functionally, this is the same as the op's suggestion, but requires no complex lore machinations.
I do not support the other ideas of the op. We both agree that people should be forced out of the MCC eventually. Also, lore was included because people have complained that my ideas do not have a basis in lore. So I included it for that sake.
I still believe people should be penalized for hiding in their ground base the entire time. Or else that will be the new place to AFK. |
