I like the collective > individual and the "function > form" thing that goes on with the Caldari, even tough i dispise the free for all market that goes on with the major power blocks (Kakkaliota and Ishukone are ok tough). Reminds me of Japanese Shogunate (Raata Empire) with a mix of Thir Reich (Caldari first, individual second), and the tycoon industrial entrepeneurship powerhorse of the US (With the good and the bad). And all of those had strong military to support their group,
In eve, i-¦m an Achura.
"Achura has been part of the Caldari State for three centuries, and yet their culture has always remained something of a mystery. Originally from the Saisio system, they are reclusive and introverted, and show little interest in the ephemeral phenomena of the material world. Intensely spiritual, Achur pilots have only recently taken to the stars, driven in large part by a desire to unlock the secrets of the universe.
The Achur homeworld is Saisio III, simply referred to as 'Achura'."
The Shinto / Budhism / Taoism that goes on with them is much like my personal view of the world, and it gives a lot og good RP material to have immortality to contemplate on the notion of "self" when our bodies are mere vessels.
Caldari do what they must, i like that.
In Dust, i chose Minmatar because i think they have a great thing going on, but it-¦s under the radar compared to the other 3. The independent nature and yet, deeply rooted on their tribes, the praticality and adaptability makes me think that they have much more in common as a complement to the Caldari than they currently are.
With the power of cohesion and purpose of the Caldari, and the adaptability and passion of the Minmatar, they would make a kick-kitten partership.
Plus, as i-¦ve been writing lately, both had something taken from them by a more powerful force, and i don-¦t think there is a Minmatar that doesn-¦t relate to the fall of Caldari Prime to the Gallente.
People tend to see all the races in black and white binary 2-dimensional ways, and i think it-¦s a dispretsige to the rich lore and the excellent team behind it to reduce Ammar to religious biggots, Gallente shiny white knights of freedom and liberty, Minmatar to duct-tape freed-slaves and the Caldari to Tyranical insensitive greedy bastards.
They are all that, of course, but they-¦re much, much more than this.
Anyway, thats why i chose them.

Also, how cool is this.
People tend to ignore that they have a nasty, nasty social side and that dishonor is something you really don-¦t want to have in a deeply social community.
After some time they set him free. Free to wander around, dazed. No one knew what he had done, but at the same time everyone knew that it had been dishonorable. He couldn't get a new job, of course. Not even the lowliest street sweepers would talk to a dishonored man. His family deserted him. His friends never answered. Even complete strangers, passing him in the street, gave him looks, as if they could smell his rank.
His savings had been left intact, but he never had to dip into them, because he'd been given a monthly pension. That, somehow, made it even worse. |

Kitten Commander wrote:The Caldari are tasteless number crunchers. Its all about the basics with no sense of the beauty of the universe. Wake up, do work, go to sleep. What a boring lifestyle devoid of richness.
Its because of this that Im surprised that they have such a nice looking LAA. They must of kidnapped a Gallente designer.
For the State
Once the requirements were properly assessed and a draft schedule was put together, the Director looked up at the Foreman.
"This is a lot of work for two teams."
"The work needs doing and two teams is what we have. You give me the orders, and my men will get it done."
Megacorporations
Competition, efficiency and market share is more important to the corporations than accumulation of wealth (although the latter is often a happy by-product of the former). Business for the good of the individual rather than the good of the many is something totally alien to the Caldari.
The Caldari do what must be done. The Caldari is interested in the good of the whole, instead of the whims of one. Surrender to the void.
Tengu
When we first saw the flock, we were surrounded, caught in a spectacle of stimuli. Brilliant colors, dancing lights, beautiful cacophonies, wafting ambrosia. Those birds surrounded us, each one a different shape, an altered species, a new wonder. I tried to follow a single bird, but my efforts were futile: Transformation is natural to their existence. Imagine it: an undulating mass, a changing mob, all those beasts partaking in wonderful transmogrification.
These were our augurs, our deliverers, our saviors. Standing amidst the flock, we should have feared their glory; instead, we drew hope. This moment is the first time I understood what it meant to be Caldari: Divinity in the flock, delivery in flux, one being, many changes.
