One other problem I am having with the voice chat system is that, you have to BUY the power to talk.
While I realize this makes it so that CCP makes a bunch of money and all, the only problem is that, only those people who HAVE money can actually TALK on this game, and it makes it so that NO ONE can actually communicate to anyone.
Now on other FPS there is the problem of too many folks yapping at the same time.
Well, I have a solution for both problems.
Make it so that you can talk generally to ANYONE in the match you are currently in, just like any other FPS, and ANYONE ELESE can hear everything you are saying... FOR FREE... BUT the difference will be that CCP makes it so that if you don't want the enemy hearing what you are telling your fellow team mates over the radio...
... you can PURCHASE (Aurum Micro-Transaction) an "encryption device".
This "device" plugs into the cybernetics of your in game comms system, and allows you to still hear the radio chatter of other players no matter what team they are on (the equivalent of running in battle with a walkie-talkie with no signal encryption), but you can switch the extra battle chatter off, and you can also make it so that the only ones hearing what YOU are saying are on YOUR TEAM.
That way, you can listen to what the other team is saying, and then pass along that intel to your team and be able to pinpoint the locations of enemy combatants better.
One good picture may be worth a thousand words...
... but one wrong word can be worth a million deaths.
CCP you have taken this game too far into the realm of FPS, and not enough into the realm of Strategy Gaming.
If you want this game to truly stand out from the veritable CROWD of other First Person Shooters... then you need to introduce a means by which strategy can be executed as well. |

Why not?
Instead of having to pay for speaking.
You pay for speaking ONLY to your teammates.
That way you can communicate freely between all players.
This will also give you the means by which to gather intelligence on the enemy, and be able to pinpoint their locations, and figure out their movement patterns by the voice communications they put out over the open comm channel.
The ability to SILENCE the "public radio" would NOT be something you would have to BUY... THAT would be a setting on your Voice chat channel system (Radio).
You could even (much like EVERY OTHER FPS I KNOW OF) silence specific players as well, if they are being particularly annoying.
This would allow you to be able to still gather intel, but weed out the misfits who sit there and broadcast EVERYTHING. |

Then you ban hammer them from your own personal radio system. Just like any other FPS, you simply highlight the offenders name, tap the x button, scroll to the "mute" option, and they are muted until you unmute them.
Problem solved. |

Yes, it is a good thing.
But the way this thing is set up now, there is no team cohesion. There is no flow of information. There is NO intel gathering.
CCP wants this game to evolve to the point that each DUST player is a Mercenary that fights for their respective corporation.
The way the game is set up now, it's just another boring FPS with no point.
CCP wants US to write the headlines of the news stories of New Eden. And to do that, and this NOT just be another boring as h*** shoot'em-up, then the flow of information between players and intelligence gathering must be UNrestricted.
If you will note, NO other FPS has maps this big.
As such, NO other FPS has any NEED for players to be hollering to their teammates as to where the enemy is because, if you wait just a few seconds longer... SOMEONE from the other side will happen across your cross hairs eventually.
Not so in DUST.
There are literally THOUSANDS of hiding places in these maps... and there isn't even any foliage to camoflauge behind.
In DUST communication and intelligence gathering are VITAL to winning. |
