Why is it that I, as a DUST 514 player, am unable to log in to purchase the HD stream? I am one of those "entirely new audience" I have heard this game was made for. I do not have an EVE Online account that I know of.
Am I just missing something simple? |

Has anyone that does not have an EVE sub been able to purchase the HD stream? The best I have been able to do is an unexpected error.

So here is the deal. Definitely smells of second class citizenship. You do not have to have an EVE account to subscribe to the HD stream. You can subscribe to the stream through Twitch TV.
But you do not get any of the in game items. So you essentially have to have an EVE sub to be able to get Dust 514 game items from fanfest.
I guess they really weren't kidding about the gold membership.
Things like this make all of the big talk about appealing to a new audience ring hollow. It makes Dust 514 look more like bait to get people to sign up for EVE than a game that can be taken seriously in its own right. CCP, please get your act together.

New Dropsuits? Quafe scout dropsuits. 50 of them I think, but I don't feel like skilling into scout suits just to wear them in the MCC. They are one of the bonus for purchasing the HD Live Stream from the EVE Online site directly, although you can purchase the HD Live Stream from twitch directly, but you don't get the bonus stuff. By the way that dropsuit is the only dust bonus you get for purchasing it from the EVE Online site, everything else is EVE Online items, t-shirt for your character, pirate noob frigate. Think that's about it really. Edit: While you could just sign up for a 14 day free trial and never download the game and just use it to purchase the Live Stream if you wanted too. They need to fix it, do you have a link to the dust page that you purchase the Live Stream from as I can not find the one you are referring too?
Yes, sure there is a work around. But it is a BS work around. I thought I was already a citizen of New Eden. Why would I need to start an EVE Online trial to get in game items for Dust 514? Also, an EVE player that does not play Dust 514 and does not have a Dust 514 account will still get the in game items for Dust 514.
Here is the relevant text:
Important: Only purchases made through CCP will receive the free in-game items for EVE Online and DUST 514. Click here to purchase the HD stream through CCP.
Edit: And no, it is not the pink drop suits that are important. It is having 2 tiers of access where one group is priviledged and the other group is marginilized and excluded that is BS. |

But what website are you trying to log into the purchase the Live Stream? That's kind of what I'm confused about. If there is not a link through the dust site I suggest submitting a support ticket and see if they can point you in the correct direction then.
There is no link through the Dust site. It would have been nice if there was one.
Here is the page: http://fanfest.eveonline.com/en/info/hdstream
Click the link and you get: https://secure.eveonline.com/fanfest/stream.aspx
CCP keep mentioning that we should get the HD stream so I thought, yeah. I will do that. Was looking forward to it. Well, I subscribed through Twitch so I will have access to the stream. |

I'm confused how Dust players are marginalized if the only problem you are having is logging into the Dust site to purchase the Live Stream. What site are you trying to log into to purchase the live stream from?
Dust players do not get HD stream in game items specifically for DUST 514 unless they subscribe to EVE Online.
If you do not purchase the HD live stream through CCP you do not get the in game items for DUST 514. You cannot use your DUST 514 account to login to purchase the HD live stream through CCP. |

That would explain why you were getting an error, I don't really think you can log onto the EVE site with you playstation ID.
But ya, I don't know why they haven't added a link for the Dust side. Doesn't really make sense. Main reasons I purchased it through my EVE sub is because I could get it for a plex, which I have several lying around and I wanted the EVE stuff. Don't really care about the dropsuits as even if I ran a scout I still wouldn't use them, being limited edition and all.
I tried something like you mentioned in your above post. I was thinking there was some universal account. When I log in here I do get to do account management and all that through PSN ID so was hoping that would work.
It isn't really a big deal. Just pissed me off. Another one of those annoying things. Just seems like a really basic oversight.
But why in the world wouldn't they promote fanfest to Dust players and let us sign up for the HD stream through our accounts that we already have?

I guess I will end my participation in this thread by saying:
Every player has a breaking point.
For some it has been lag, constant freezing, maybe a YLOD. For others forum conflicts, bans, perhaps a feeling that they were not being heard, or listened to, that communicating was difficult and perhaps a misunderstanding or two seemed to spiral out of control. For some a perceived lack of interaction with the game developers. For still others the waiting has become unbearable. Some could not take the gameplay, feel of the game, the way the controls seemed to respond, the quality of the graphics, lack of game modes, all of the changes or lack of changes made to weapons, items, dropsuits, vehicles. For some the matchmaking never seemed to offer fulfilling combat, and there were those for whom the spawning system appeared to be a cruel and fateful joke. There were those that struggled and continue to struggle with the status of AUR in beta vs. the unknown status of that same AUR and certain in game items after commercial release and perhaps still wonder what those two terms (beta and commercial release) even mean anymore, anyways. And still others became embroiled in conflicts within their corporations, and with other players.
Every player has a breaking point.
For me it was 50 pink drop suits. |
