A while ago I started getting some ideas together of what I and some others would like from a CPM, I created an IRC channel, a basic website, and said to the forums that I am going to support anyone who wants to try and do something, then waited.... and waited....
The IRC channel was dead for 2 days, by 5 days, Ironwolf, nova, jenza and kain were in there as well as some others. They gave their opinion on what I wanted (positive and negative) and had conflicting opinions (nova said we should make it inviting for CCP, kain said we should work with ccp from the start) we had all these ideas about how we wanted to make a fair voting process, how it should be handled.... but in the month or so it was up, they were some of the few guys who actually made the effort to get involved. Just being there showed their commitment to the community and that alone is enough for me to know they are dedicated to making a good effort.
I've known all of them apart from Hans who I've only spoken to a handfull of times, and even though I don't agree with all of their personal ideals, I have to put aside my bias and look at what they have done.
Just because you haven't seen them post on the forums, doesn't mean they haven't been everywhere else, and just because to you they seem inactive, doesn't mean they are. I'm one of the most active IRC users, but rarely post in the forums, never tweet, never have videos, but I'm very active.
I expect you won't really have a clue until after fanfest, but something you could look at improving upon is a CPM central hub for users who have missed past contributions, CPMs (when there's a CPM 8, people will want to see what CPM 7,6,5,4 did) and easily find you. At the moment we have the forums and your posts here.... But they will get lost when other users post along with the contact details you supplied :)
The only thing I will say to the CPM is your words will only take you so far, but it's your actions that will be your legacy and we as a community can build our trust on you from that legacy.
as you guys know, I'm ready and waiting to help you as a developer in any way I can, and if you need something created to help suit your needs, you know where to find me. |
