No reward points after battle = no reason to play imo. Points give me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Take Battlefield for example when you earn a bunch of medals after a good match. K/D ratio and ISK aren't enough reasons to try hard in a match, I want points dude POINTS. |

Points and character progression are a very new phenomenon in FPSs - and not a welcome one for me. It does make sense in an MMOFPS, though. Nevertheless, if you need points to feel motivated to play Dust (or any other FPS), you probably won't last long. Melting faces should be motivation enough.
All FPS have some kind of progression system dude, unless you're talking about +10 year old games. Even America's Army had one, where you had to actually train to use things. |

I didn't talked about passive SP. Since you mentioned it imo matches should reward very little passive SP or none at all. Take for example a Battlefield match participation medal, it rewards like 200 XP, very little compared to the high amount of XP you need to level up. + BF does it smart by only unlocking things with the use of things, meaning you can't upgrade jets if you're only using ARs, etc.

People just like to be rewarded for their actions. Almost all multiplayer games have some kind of progression based on match performance, it's not limited to FPS. I don't know the gameplay mechanics of EVE but I could guess it has other incentives that makes you continue to play it. I'm guessing ISK is much more important there than in Dust. |
