I know a lot of people will go "but that means that the new guys don't stand a chance!", but that's bullshit. People are AFKing now to hit the cap each week so in a sense we're "all" (many/most) accumulating the same amount of SP every week, leaving us in the same position as a passive only accumulation would.
This would remove AFKing
I understand that CCP is doubling it's booster sales with active and passive SP accumulation so it's a monetary incentive for them. But I feel people might simply use the booster for longer with this lower SP accumulation. I personally will be using active and passive boosters until I hit a point where I feel that for my main playstyle I am in a good place i.e. I have a "corp battle protobear" setup as well as a "regular" and "cheap". After that point I might keep a single booster on to skill up for a secondary playstyle. But I have an alt under some rock that's passively skilling up for a totally different playstyle I want to try/enjoy.
I do understand also the preference of front-end-load on return on investment for CCP where they have most of their sales happen earlier to recoup investment faster. But this could affect people's enjoyment of the game if the system around it can be broken (MCC AFKing).
Wouldn't it be great to join a match and see people play for the simple reason that they want to play to win? So another thread about MCC AFking... HUH... man just wait untile may 6. The only reason we closed beta players AFK in the MCC is because we get bored. If you go play ambush, its a whole new ball game there... Simple as that the MCC AFK wont get nerfed because what is there to nerf, a few good players not helping the new players... Its going to happen, and will happen untile may 6, then you wont see it anymore...
It's not that I care about people AFKing in the MCC, I'm just tired of having to AFK there MYSELF to keep up with the SP accumulation. I don't have enough time to play enough to cap SP but since I'm working from home I can keep DUST on and AFK in the MCC. I'd prefer just playing for fun and not grind.
I in the beginning thought you could either use a passive booster to gain 80K-ish extra SP a week OR (not both) an active booster that allowed you about 15K more SP a week if you capped. I was fine with being 15K behind a week without grinding, but I do feel I'm getting left behind if I'm falling behind at close to 400K a month (for the first few months, this will not matter after some time).
But I understand the "instant gratification" point of view of rewards equal to effort with regards to matches. As there is currently very little to spend ISK on apart from protobearing in pub matches (a WASTE of ISK), there's not much satisfaction in banking millions of ISK now and people want something more valuable for their efforts, namely SP. |
