Take Battlefield for example when you earn a bunch of medals after a good match. K/D ratio and ISK aren't enough reasons to try hard in a match, I want points dude POINTS. Somebody give this man a meddle, and some SP! |

I don't have enough time to play enough to cap SP but since I'm working from home I can keep DUST on and AFK in the MCC. I'd prefer just playing for fun and not grind.
I in the beginning thought you could either use a passive booster to gain 80K-ish extra SP a week OR (not both) an active booster that allowed you about 15K more SP a week if you capped. I was fine with being 15K behind a week without grinding, but I do feel I'm getting left behind if I'm falling behind at close to 400K a month (for the first few months, this will not matter after some time).
But I understand the "instant gratification" point of view of rewards equal to effort with regards to matches. As there is currently very little to spend ISK on apart from protobearing in pub matches (a WASTE of ISK), there's not much satisfaction in banking millions of ISK now and people want something more valuable for their efforts, namely SP.
Console yourself in that fact you have a busy enough life that you can't afford to play video games 24/7. For some people, video games is all they have... those poor lost souls. |

I do understand that everyone have a favourite gratification system, but if yours is a little golden star on the forehead after a battle, then perhaps New Eden will have a crude impact on it.
Why do you say "New Eden"? Dust is also a part of New Eden, Dust has an Active SP system, and not everyone who plays will give a **** about faction warfare, lore, or any of that other EVE stuff.
If there's people who care about "gold stars" then Dust will suit them just fine.
Edit: oh, and that thing about corps/alliances, that's just another form of the "gold star" |
