WyrmHero1945 wrote:No reward points after battle = no reason to play imo. Points give me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Take Battlefield for example when you earn a bunch of medals after a good match. K/D ratio and ISK aren't enough reasons to try hard in a match, I want points dude POINTS.
The reward for the battles will be your corp/alliance name on the persistent universe.
SP will only get you so far, and after the "main" build is ok, the rest of the time will be only "Meh, where should i spend all this?"
I do understand that everyone have a favourite gratification system, but if yours is a little golden star on the forehead after a battle, then perhaps New Eden will have a crude impact on it. |

Sloth9230 wrote: Why do you say "New Eden"? Dust is also a part of New Eden, Dust has an Active SP system, and not everyone who plays will give a **** about faction warfare, lore, or any of that other EVE stuff.
If there's people who care about "gold stars" then Dust will suit them just fine.
Edit: oh, and that thing about corps/alliances, that's just another form of the "gold star"
I say "New Eden" because it contains Dust, EVE, and possibly more games in the future, just like you reiterated.
Yes, it has an active SP system, i didn-¦t mention anything about it, for i-¦m fond of this mixed system as it is. (Even with the afk people)
I-¦m not saying people will care about FW, Lore or something about EVE. I don-¦t care what they care about.
What i do care, is the hability to harvest tears from the players, to destroy what they care about, to go to their quiet little safespot, their pretty little sandcastle, and simply smash it, because i can do this.
It is not due to social inability, it is not to "ruin" their game, it is not to make them quit.
It-¦s to make them realize, hell, to make them live the inconstancy of life, to know it is aleatory, that there are no "safe" places, that their security is an illusion that can be ruined with a simple gesture.
Is to invite them to grow with this experience and become stronger by it.
A lot of people won-¦t see it that way, but those few that do, it-¦s amazing to watch them transform and become "more than they were".
The guy so scared of being locked on a gate camp that his voice trembled on TS, becoming a kick-kitten FC and leading a full group of newbies. The girl that was scared of your voice, damn, of her own voice, becoming pro-active, shouting instructions to people and making things happen. This is awesome stuff to be part of.
Growth is pain. Is leaving stuff behind. Is changing.
I didn-¦t wish to invalidate your form of gratification, and i-¦ll repeat again, i know people have different forms of gratification. Of course Alliance/Corporation stuff is one form of golden star, everything is a form of scooby-snack.
Mine is to invite people to change, and if Dust follows the hardcore mode of New Eden, then it wil lmean that there-¦ll be plenty of opportunities to destroy everything you care for, and hope that you-¦ll rise stronger by it and make your move to shape the universe the way you want it to be.
