Judging from the other threads like "post last to win" and many others, I reckon this thread is as valid as they are.
How about we discuss why this is frowned upon but not "posting last to win"? At least this is somewhat constructive. |

Unlike the competitive goal of winning in which effort is required to win, asking for likes creates a false reputation upon which others view you. This pseudo-reputation requires no true effort, and the amount of likes you have usually corresponds to how well you are liked in the forums overall; thus, this pseudo-reputation instills a sense in which you, even if grossly incompetent, will be viewed upon as correct, whereas others who have achieved this status fairly Will view you with contempt. This overall leads to arguments and utter lack of respect on the forums. Therefore, it is best advised to not create threads such as these.
Furthermore, the cancer that is the need for attention has already spread like a plague (in a metaphorical sense); on top of this, the other thread you referenced was a benign thread that did not seek to grossly compensate people for doing next to nothing. Rather, it is a thread designed to relieve boredom, pass the time, and instill friendly competition. That is all I have to say on this topic. |

Rather than mindlessly replying to a topic repeatedly saying "I win" to pass the time, it is much more constructive to spread your love to your neighbour and give them your likes. This is not some selfish competition solely focusing yourself but it is a celebration of love, of friendship and of sportsmanship, and fairness, even on a battlefield.
The pseudo-reputation that you label this like count is one comes from a perspective of a self-centered person, and you do not have the vision of seeing pass yourself, such as creating a collaboration with the others, which is vital for a soldier. Instead of false reputation, this like is a badge of honour, an icon of your participation in a team, your contribution, your selflessness, your love, and those who share theirs with you. Such an activity is in no way cancerous, rather, it is a healthy finger exercise that lets you practice target seeking and clicking the like buttons, much like you control your gun on the battlefield. Do you not see how this is a much better pass time activity than your post-to-win competition that celebrates the wrong concepts and exercises the wrong parts of your finger? |

However, you neglect the fact that it is still a reputation gained from no reason. Other people earn their likes from writing a well written post, and yet threads like this appear within the Locker Room, and ask for free likes. It's much akin to Communism. Why work hard and write a good post when I can just post one letter and get free likes in a thread? Others, such as Iron Wolf Saber, have well earned the right to be a forum warrior. Therefore, it should be that you should work for a proper like.
On the other hand, the post-to-win competition is literally a harmless forum game within the Locker Room in which you have a healthy yet fruitless competition in which you seek to receive a title of success, and nothing more. The competition teaches people to remain active in order to win (which can be seen as a countermeasure to prevent AFK farming), as well as relieve boredom. It's not about the likes or anything as such; since it is in the miscellaneous Locker Room, it is a harmless and benign thread.
In comparison, this thread aims to award those who deserve no award in some respects. Your turn.

The true question here is: Why do people give likes to others for no good reason? Is it because they were asked to and they somehow find that enough and/or are feeling generous, or is it because of a sense of apathy, i.e. a "why not?" type of mentality, or is it because they like to mislead people into thinking they're liked and watch their downfall? |

Why would someone desire likes, reputation and feeling of belonging? The stream of mental states is endless, meaningless and painful. Desire is the memory of pleasure and fear is the memory of pain. Both make the mind restless. Moments of pleasure are merely gaps in the stream of pain. How can the mind be happy? The mind by its very nature, divides and opposes. The mind creates the abyss, the heart crosses it. |
